With Darek's help, Lyn had arrived home warm and not bitten by frost. He luckily took his car to work today, he usually forgot and walked because of how close by he lived. He had reminded Lyn to come to work with her dress and the rest of her outfit, they were going to go to his place after work and get her ready for the ball. She was still nervous, still wondering if she was doing too much. She thought she was specifically doing this for someone she didn't even know, that's what made her nervous the most. In truth, she was, though Darek had managed to calm her nerves by saying it was alright and that she was dressing up just as much for the occasion she was going to. Even then, it was a bit hard to convince her to believe it entirely. However, there was a point as to why she was so nervous about being so flashy now, she did things like this to impress her previous lover and see where that got her. Lyn eventually ignored it and continued on with her job, it went smoothly throughout the day and had helped her forget for a while about what was causing her stress. The ball.
Once her shift was over, Darek was there to remind her. Brushing her hand against the locker door, pushing it forward to shut. "Yes, I know." She sighed out, Darek furrowed his brows and grabbed her hands. "Cheer up! I'll be close by, just message me if things go badly and you can crash at my place. We can watch movies and you can raid my fridge." He smiled, the supportive side of him coming through. Lyn smiled, she knew Darek would do exactly that if things that night did go horribly. She hoped it wouldn't.
Once arriving at Darek's place, Lyn was rushed into the bathroom. Stumbling inside, she heard his voice. "Hurry up and get dressed, I still need to do your makeup!" Before she could reply, the door was slammed shut. Lyn stood there for a moment before doing exactly as told, she couldn't get herself out of this now considering she already bought an outfit for this. She also knew Darek wouldn't let her chicken out and run home. So instead of doing that, she had taken in a breath and lowered her head in defeat. Soon lifting her head up, she peered at her reflection. She looked gorgeous, for sure, though her nerves were all over the place. Flashes of him, her previous love, had flooded into her mind. How they got along so well, everything seemed so perfect when they were together. But now, she knew it was a bit too perfect to be true. She felt dumb, ashamed that she had given everything away to someone who didn't care as much as she did about this. Her thoughts were interrupted by a loud pounding on the door accompanied by Darek's voice, "Lyn hurry up, come on! I still need to do your makeup, get out here already!" Lyn shook her head and turned, grabbing the knob to open the door, she was met with Darek crossing his arms. "Finally. You took forever," He sighed before smiling. "You look nice, come on." He hummed gently and grabbed his friend's hand, leading her out into the hallway. He didn't have much decoration in areas around there aside from some Japanese paintings. Examining the way they were going, she recognized it to be his living room. Again, not too much decoration to the point it just looked clustered and terrible. She wasn't surprised, Darek was pretty good at decorating. The living room had a tan carpet, black sofa and a coffee table. There wasn't much, mainly those and a television and a bookcase. Lyn was pulled to the couch, motioned to sit down before Darek had. There were already things set up on the table; mirror, makeup, brushes and a few other items. Lyn stared in shock before looking at Darek. "Is this really necessary?" Darek sent her a stare that mainly told her to be quiet and sit. Once having almost everything ready, Darek had began. Though the silence had Lyn's mind wandering and she decided to speak, her voice soft and low. "Do you think everything will be alright?" Lyn was clearly worried this would turn out how her last relationship went.
Darek glanced at her then the kit, grabbing a tube of dark red lipstick. He usually did makeup for friends and other people. He had a type of side job by being a cosmetic person for upcoming events and such, though he didn't get too many requests so he needed to work another job, that being his one at the bar. "Lyn, you have to believe it will. I have no clue how things will go, but I'm believing that they will go just fine tonight. Come on, let me finish this up." Lyn sighed softly before her vision went dark, lips parting slightly. The feeling of a somewhat cold substance had soon followed, usually she flinched at this part or when Darek would do anything to do with her eyes, though she adapted and had gotten used to it. She wished she could adapt to other things just as quickly. Lyn hadn't noticed how time passed by until Darek got up, grabbed her hand and pulled her up. Without a word, he pulled her back to the bathroom, having her in front of the mirror in a matter of seconds. Looking back at the reflection she saw, she could barely recognize herself. Darek had seen her expression and frowned, "Lyn, tonight things will change, I promise. You'll possibly be more open and hopefully, more happy." He smiled as he talked, setting his hands on the female's shoulders as she stared at her reflection with uncertainty. Though her friends' words seemed to fill her with hope and a tad bit of confidence.
