Looking in the reflection with uncertainty, Lyn had sighed in defeat. She knew tonight could possibly change her outlook on everything, though she didn't know if she was ready for that yet. However, Lyn knew she had to go with it, she had no other option. She was already dressed up, already had makeup on. Even if she didn't want to go anymore, there was no escaping the fate awaiting for her. She didn't even know what this fate was, at least, not for a while. "Okay.. I'm trusting you, Darek." Finally speaking, Darek smiled quite happily as he looked at their reflections. "Maybe I should join you at the dance, yeah?" He chuckled, clearly trying to lighten the mood. With a playful smirk, Lyn had easily thought of a comeback in reply to her friends' teasing. "Maybe.. You should definitely wear that tie, a cute guy might come and dance with you." Darek's eyes widened at the comment before he had huffed, gently hitting her shoulder in response. "Come on, let's go so you're not late." Taking Darek's hand, they both moved through the living room back into the main hall, quickly leaving to the front door. Upon opening it, they were instantly met with the cold wind, both shuddering. Darek chuckled, "Hurry!" With a laugh, the two hurried off toward the male's car parked in front of the house. Fumbling to grab his keys, he got them out before unlocking the car doors. Lyn rushed to the passengers side, instantly slipping in to be met with a somewhat warmer atmosphere though Lyn was quick to turn the heater on, clutching her arms as the cold from the outside surrounded them like a wolf after it's prey. That brought a grim thought to mind, however she was quick to shake her head before the bloody image could entirely fester. Darek had gotten in soon after, starting up the vehicle before glancing over at Lyn. "Really should've bought a jacket to go with it." He muttered out in guilt, though Lyn had declined it while they were at the store. She didn't want Darek to spend anymore money on her, especially for something so small like keeping her from freezing to death. Sure, it felt like she would, though that was an exaggeration. She wouldn't die from the cold seeing as how it wasn't enough to kill her. Either way, it felt like it could. Leaning back, Lyn watched as they pulled out and into the street, instantly driving off and toward town where the church would be. Her eyes fixated on the passing trees and lights, the illumination giving her comfort. She always loved how the town looked drenched in the street lights, surrounded by the looming blackness of night. It gave the light a sense of comfort you never felt until nightfall had hit.
It wasn't long before they were parked in front of the church, Lyn feeling all of her anxiety swooping back in. After a bit of thinking, her voice was finally heard through the silence of the car. "You should stay." It was simple, Darek looked over at her. "At the ball? Are you sure?" Lyn looked over at him, complete certainty in her gaze as she nodded. Darek picked up on the reason, she was nervous of being stood up and all alone for hours on end. He would've asked the same from her if he was in her position. With a smile, he nodded. "Sure, I can do that." Lyn sighed to herself in relief to her friend accepting it, she was sure he'd say she needed to grow up and deal with her issues. Technically, she was, but with a little bit of help. Upon turning the car off, Darek pulled the keys out and soon opened his door. Lyn was next, soon beside him. As they walked to the steps, she could feel her heart pounding inside of her chest as nervousness had fogged her entire being. She didn't know why she was so anxious, it was something so simple yet felt so hard and nerve wrecking to her. Though as Darek grabbed her hand, she felt a little bit better and followed after him inside the building. In the front of the opening, there were a few guards there to welcome them in, luckily they didn't need any confirmation or this whole night would go terribly.
