Maya's little adventure to the station ended up being a bigger set back in her recovery than she had anticipated. Before she had tried to walk there, she had been napping two to three times a day for about an hour at a time.

The day after her little trip, she had barely been awake for three hours, only really waking when Carina forced her to wake up to eat and drink. She also spiked a low-grade fever that day that had Carina worried. She called Teddy, and the cardio surgeon reassured her friend that a low-grade fever was perfectly normal in Covid recovery, especially after over-exertion.

The entire day after Maya's trip to the station Carina spent worrying because of how hard it was to wake Maya up and when the blonde was awake, she was grumpy and complaining about the pain in her muscles.

She took the following day off too so she could stay with Maya to keep an eye on her, and while the fever didn't show any signs of easing, Maya was awake for a little longer and seemed a lot more like herself, although she was still super unsettled because all her muscles were achy and sore from being overexerted.

Carina so desperately wanted to be mad at Maya for going to the station, but the sick blonde was so pathetic and miserable that she just couldn't be.

Two evenings after Maya snuck out of the house, she and Carina were in bed, Maya having only left the spot to use the bathroom since she got home.

"I'm sorry I thought I could walk to the station," Maya said, leaning her head on Carina's shoulder.

"I know you are," Carina said, pressing a kiss to Maya's too hot forehead, "I am not angry with you, Bambina. I do wish you would have listened to my warnings, but you chose not to, and now, you are learning why I told you to rest. Now, are you ready for some soup?"

"I'm not super hungry still," Maya said, rubbing at her eyes.

"I know," Carina said, "But you have to eat. It doesn't have to be soup, but you need to eat something."

"Soup sounds good," Maya said, not moving from her place on Carina's shoulder, "Or as good as anything sounds right now."

"Bambina, you have to move," Carina said, chuckling a little as Maya cuddled closer.

"Can you just stay a little longer?" Maya asked, "I'm comfortable finally."

"Only a few more minutes," Carina said, wrapping an arm around Maya as the blonde let her eyes slip closed.

A few minutes later, Maya started coughing harshly, Carina rubbing her back as she struggled to stop.

"Are you alright?" the brunette asked, giving her some Gatorade when the coughing finally clamed a little.

"Yeah," Maya nodded, sipping on the drink.

"Ok," Carina said, "I am going to go grab us some dinner. You just relax."

Maya laid back down against the pillows, letting her tired eyes slip closed.

"Bambina," Carina said, coming back into the bedroom with two bowls of soup to find her girlfriend sound asleep, "Oh Bambina. Maya, come on. You need to wake up."

""m tired," the blonde mumbled, pulling the blankets up.

"I know," Carina said, "But you need to eat. Please, Bambina. I am going to go get you something more to drink and give you another minute to finish waking up. You cannot go back to sleep until you get some nutrients in you. You slept through lunch today."

Maya moaned but opened her eyes as Carina left the room. By the time her girlfriend got back, the blonde had forced her achy body into a sitting position again.
