calabasas, ca.
8 o'clock pm.
the warm fall air blew softly through the open windows of the house. amanda walked in and out of the living room setting up things for tonight's get together. she wanted to have one of these nights at least twice a month in attempt to keep everyone close.
she loved having everyone over to her house for things like this. a knack for hosting was something she could thank her stepmother for. amanda used to love helping trina plan all the family parties. she took pride in knowing she was apart of all the fun.
it was something amanda would never tire of. amanda had always been the one planning these things for their close group of friends. it kept her happy, spending time together in the most simple way possible.
the doorbell rang loudly, catching amanda off guard. after laying out the last card game on the coffee table, amanda rushed to the door. when she opened it she smiled widely at the group standing before her. kylie, stassie and nate were stood on the porch, each with a drink in hand.
"hey guys! come in, come in!" amanda beamed, opening the door fully so that they could enter. stassie, along with the others, entered the house and immediately headed into the living room. "so... who's coming through besides us?" nate asked curiously as he set down the bottle of alcohol he was holding on the coffee table.
"well, gerry was here but i asked him to run to the store real quick, and then douglas of course... oh and colson." amanda informed the group that was now sitting on the couch. kylie and stassie's eyes widened when they'd heard the mention of amanda's ex. they looked at each other knowingly and kylie decided to pursue more into the topic.
"colson? you two are what, friends now?" kylie questioned with an unamused tone behind her words. amanda was taken aback by kylie's sudden attitude. "well yeah. we decided that we're both mature enough to move on from whatever happened between us in the past." amanda explained.
"are you sure that's a good idea mands?" nate cocked his eyebrow, unsure. "i don't want any judgement from you guys. colson, pete and i have decided this is what's best for the three of us in order to move on." amanda shook her head not wanting to hear their opinions.
"we aren't going to judge you. we support your decision mands. always." stassie said with a soft smile. "thanks, so if you all could just please be nice and get along when he gets here i'd really appreciate it." amanda expressed just as pete walked into the room.
"what's up guys." he greeted as he took a seat on the sofa beside nate. "want a beer before everyone gets here?" he asked nate gesturing to the kitchen. nate nodded softly and the two of them left, leaving the girls alone.
before any of the girls could speak, the door bell chimed loudly stealing amanda's attention. she excused herself from the living room and walked into the foyer. when she opened the door and saw douglas standing across from her, she almost screamed. "dougie!" she squealed in excitement as she engulfed him into a hug. "hey mands!" he chuckled as he held her in a tight embrace.
"i can't believe you're here. it's been too long." amanda smiled as they pulled away. "fuck yeah it has. you've gotten a bloody house now." he agreed with a laugh, gesturing to the home before them. "well get your ass inside and take a look around." amanda exclaimed pulling him into the house.
the two entered the living room where everyone was sitting and pete immediately jumped up to greet his friend. "douglas what's up man?" pete spoke, pulling him in for a hug. "hey mate. it's been a while." he replied. just then the garage door opened and gerald walked into the house carrying bags of alcohol and snacks.
