july 15th, 2019.
los angeles, ca.
twelve o'clock pm.

amanda's heart raced as she pulled into the all too familiar driveway. today was the day she was supposed to see casie. the two of them were going to see a movie, and amanda was very excited that the girl wanted to spend time with her.

though she tried not too, amanda truly did miss that little girl. although she and colson are no longer together, amanda thought it best if the two remained civil.

getting out of the car, amanda brushed herself off before walking up to the door of the large house in front of her. her nerves were on fire. the last time she was here, she wasn't very happy, but she hoped that today would be different.

this was the first time amanda would be seeing colson in person since their breakup. she was nervous to say the least. not nervous to see him, but nervous of their unfinished business coming up in conversation.

pressing the small button, she rang the door bell, waiting for someone to answer. a few seconds passed by and the door opened, revealing colson. "hi." he greeted softly while taking in her appearance. "hi." amanda replied with a small smile.

colson took a few steps back allowing her to enter. when she walked inside of the house she was immediately reminded of all the memories she had there. "how are you?" colson asked, breaking her from her thoughts.

she turned to face him and answered, "good, i've been good." replying colson nodded, "that's good to hear."

amanda wasn't liking the small talk. she thought it felt forced, and she honestly wasn't here to catch up with him. it didn't feel right. they have only been broken up for two weeks. the only reason she was here was for casie.

"she's in her room, i'll go get her." colson told amanda before going up the stairs to get his daughter. amanda set her purse down on the kitchen counter and waited patiently for the two of them to return.

her mind raced as she looked around, taking in her surroundings. she couldn't help but notice that the house felt weird to be in now. she felt like she was revisiting the grave of her relationship.

thankfully she wasn't left too much time to think, and she was snapped from her thoughts when she saw the two coming toward her.

"mandi!" shouting excitedly, casie rushed into her arms. bending down amanda engulfed her into a tight hug. "hi case! how are you?" releasing the girl from her grip, amanda replied planting a small kiss on the girls head.

"i'm happy now that you're here." casie smiled up at amanda brightly. "awh yay! we're gonna have so much fun today." amanda told her with a smile.

"alright case. be good and i'll call you in a little bit." colson hugged her, saying his goodbyes. "okay dad, i promise. bye!" she responded grabbing amanda's hand and began pulling her to the door.

"i'll text you and let you know what's up." amanda reassured colson as the two of them walked out to the car. replying with a wave colson smiled, "thanks."

"so, how have you been? having fun with your dad on tour?" amanda asked the girl sitting in the back seat. "yeah. going to shows is fun but i wish you were with us." she replied making amanda feel upset.

glancing in the mirror she could see the sad look on the little girl's face. amanda couldn't believe that she was the reason why she was feeling this way.

"i know casie. i'm sorry." she sighed not knowing what else to say. "did dad do something wrong?" casie asked, and amanda's heart dropped.

she was frozen. she had no idea how to respond to that question. "you know honey. sometimes things don't work out the way we want them too, and that's okay. it's okay to be sad about it too." replying, she tried her best not to go into too much detail.
