"I was obsessed with her."
Q U I N N
Twenty minutes later, a black truck turns the corner.
In the mean time, I have managed to bring my cousin to consciousness. She's still shivering from the cold and it's hard for her to keep her eyes open. I try to talk to her, but her words only come out hoarsely. It sounds just like the other day after she had the anger attack, when she could barely talk. But at least she is still breathing, so that sounds good to me.
The black truck stops in front of the bus stop, and two young men hop out. The long, blonde guy runs towards us the moment he sees June laying in my arms. "How is she?" Owen immediately asks, touching her forehead with the back of his hand. "God, she's freezing."
"I know," I sigh, letting Owen pull her up in his arms. The other guy, Jeremy, grabs something out of the truck. He comes to us with two thick blankets which he wraps around June and me, but I shake my head. "I'm fine, but she's not. Give her both blankets."
Jeremy nods and does what I say. I step in the backseat of the truck with June laying next to me on my shoulder. She's slowly warming up, but her soaked clothes don't make it easier. "Did you bring clean clothes?" I ask to the guys clicking their seatbelts in the front. "No, we didn't had time for that. But don't worry, it's not a long drive," Owen answers.
Jeremy pressed the gas with his foot and the car starts riding. He drives fast, hoping there won't be any traffic this early in the morning. Luckily there isn't. Besides a few other cars, the road is empty.
We arrive back at the apartments, and Owen carries June out of the car. She's awake, but definitely not in a good state.
What the hell did that damn Charlie do to her? I wonder when I walk up the stairs behind them.
We stop in front of our apartment door, and Owen gently pushes it open with his shoulder. Shocked and relieved faces is the first thing I see when we come in. The whole group is in the living room, except Charlie. Madi and Savannah run toward the girl laying in Owen's arms, followed by Leah, Jace, Jadah and Sacha.
"What is everyone doing here?" I ask a little surprised.
"We were all worried and couldn't sleep after we heard what happened. Is she okay?" Leah asks, touching June's cold hand with the tip of her finger. I shake my head. "I found her at a bus stop, she was unconscious and freezing. I don't know why she did that to herself."
There is a sudden silence. No one seemed to know what to answer to that. They all stand around Owen, looking to their friend who has a hard time trying to keep her eyes open. "I'll take her to bed," Owen mumbles. I notice he feels a little awkward by the silence. I nod and he heads to her bedroom.
"Jesus," Jace sighs after the door of June's room closed. "Is this really Charlie's fault? 'Cause I really can't believe it."
"Looks like it is," I answer, shrugging as I walk into the kitchen to make some coffee. I decide not to pay too much attention to his question, because I don't want to blame Charlie for it. Yes, he's the reason she's in this state... but I'm sure he would never endanger her. In other words, he didn't mean this to happen... right?
C H A R L I E
Of course I didn't mean this to happen. None of this shit was suppose to happen in the first place. I never planned to catch feelings for one of my colleagues, and especially not after barely two fucking weeks. Seriously, two weeks? How could this all happen so fast?
