The night went as they all usually did when I went out with Darcey, she would find some guy to rub up against whilst I sat in the corner of the room left alone with the company of my own thoughts- which never ends well- nowadays I try not to think about anything for too long otherwise it's all just too much to handle.Just as I thought about leaving, I heard a deep British voice from behind me a couple seats away. "Boring isn't?" I spun around in my seat only to lay my eyes upon that same boy who had been in the corner just a few moments ago, only now up close, he was that much more gorgeous.
"What is?" I was a bit taken back by the sudden interaction with this stranger. Without asking, the mystery man took a seat next to me without breaking eye contact. "All of this really, a bunch of strangers crammed into one room dancing on each other, buying drinks for whoever catches their eye only to forget all about them tomorrow." I gave him a blank look, unsure of what to say. His confidence was unknown and honestly scary. "Don't you think?" His face was practically symmetrical not a flaw in sight. I took a peak around the dim bar watching everyone dancing and having the time of their lives. "I guess you could say that, though some people enjoy it I suppose." His face inched closer to mine- but not too close. "What about you? Do you enjoy it?"
Tonight felt different from all the other times I had attempted to go out with Darcey- I was actually having fun for once. Turns out the mystery man had a name and it's Charlie. He also moved from London to New York and owns a small music shop on the high street and -according to him- a 'modest' apartment- maybe I'll get to see that for myself later...
~A few hours (and drinks) later~
I glanced down at the slightly blurry watch on his wrist. 11:03. The night was still young and Darcey seemed to be distracted with her newest boy toy so I decided to take Charlie on a walk around Central Park. We grabbed our things and left the noisy bar, walking into the frosty night air.
As we left the bar and walked down the lit up street, I felt a little uneasy- like some was hiding, watching. I kept looking over my shoulder every second.
Charlie placed a calming hand on my shoulder. He obviously noticed my unsettlement. "Are you alright Y/n?" I snapped back to reality, bringing my face to meet his. "Mmm, I'm good." I put on a warm smile. I'm just being paranoid."Much more beautiful at night time isn't it?" Charlie spoke, slipping me his jacket when he noticed my shivering body. "Mmm" I cosied up into the warm fur on the inside of his coat. "Definitely, but there's never one moment of silence in New York." He smiled, looking down at me. "What did you expect when you decided to move here?" I chuckled slightly as we walked through the dark, maze like paths. "Don't get me wrong, I love it here but sometimes it would be nice for a bit of peace and quiet? What do you think?" His hand made its way down to my waist pulling me closer to him, our body heat keeping each other warm. "Well, I think that you should come with me to a place that's very peaceful and quiet." I felt my heart skip a few beats. Was he inviting me to his place? A smile crept up on my face. No, I probably shouldn't go, Instead I need to go find Darcey- but what if I have fun or what if it's a huge mistake? fuck it. I'm going.
