It was upon a bleak December.

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore—
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
"'Tis some visitor," I muttered, "tapping at my chamber door—
Only this and nothing more."

Enchantress sat at her vanity mirror in her chambers, carefully braiding her long hair. A book perched in her lap as she rested on the soft chair. The wind whipped outside, the howling of the elements loud as the blizzard carried on. A torch sat upon the wall, though provided little warmth. It flickered and danced as the windows rattled.

   Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December;
And each separate dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor.
Eagerly I wished the morrow;—vainly I had sought to borrow
From my books surcease of sorrow—sorrow for the lost Lenore—
For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore—
Nameless here for evermore.

A tapping pulled her attention away as she glared at her chamber door. A tap, tap tap. Someone was knocking. But as she stood up to answer the knocking ceased. So, she sat back down. If it wasn't important enough to continue knocking, then so be it. She grabs her book and begins again on her hair.

And the silken, sad, uncertain rustling of each purple curtain
Thrilled me—filled me with fantastic terrors never felt before;

So that now, to still the beating of my heart, I stood repeating-

Tap, tap, tap.

She looked up again from her book, annoyed. Slowly, Dark enchantress makes her way to the door. She opens it to find no one standing there. She moved to slam the door closed again, but before she did, she looked down.

A small parcel wrapped in festive paper sat upon the floor. The red and green stripes went together nicely, she thought. In a messy scribble, a name was on it.

"Master. From: Licorice."

She smiled, gently picking up the present. It must be Christmas already.

She quietly closed the door.
