Last night after the show I was on cloud nine. I still am if i'm honest. I can't stop smiling. I mean he wrote a song about me. It feels like a fever dream.
As soon as I got home I finished the song I had been working on and went to bed. This morning I woke up to my mother walking into my room to wake me up.
"Hurry and get up. The kitchen is getting redone today so you need to be out of the house." She tells me.
I roll on to my back to look at her while she speaks. I look at her confused because it's not like there are many places for me to go on a Saturday morning that she'd approve of. "Are you and dad going to be home? Can't I just stay here with you guys?" I ask her.
"No. Your father is going to the office today to catch up on work and I have to stay here to watch over the workers."
"Seems fun." I mutter under my breath.
"What was that?"
"I said I'll start getting ready now." I force a smile. God save these innocent workers from being attacked by my mother.
"I thought so," She says while walking out of my room. "Be ready in 15 minutes. I'll drive you to the library."
"Sounds good." I say, getting up and closing the door behind her so I can start getting ready. I go through my clothes and pick out a simple outfit. Low waisted jeans and a graphic tee. The shirt reads 'reading is sexy'. I throw on a blue zip up over it so my mom doesn't see my shirt. I quickly grab a wad of cash from underneath my floor board so I have some leverage on what I can do today. I'm thinking of going to the music store down the street if the library so I can get some of the CDs Harry was telling me about. As well as replacing his No Doubt CD.
After I brush my hair and put on my converse I run down stairs with just enough time to make myself a piece of toast before I have to leave. While I butter my toast remember something very important. "Hey mom?" I ask. My mom turns her head to me, giving me a silent que to continue. "Since I'm not going to be home all day, will I have to go bible study?"
"No, not today. I won't be able to leave to take you there and since you have been going to church so much I'm sure you can afford to miss one meeting." She says grabbing her jacket off the hooks next to the door. I nod my head biting into my toast. "Hurry up, I need to take you now so I'm back by the time they are here."
I walk outside and get in the car. As we drive I talk to her. "Why did you have to drive me today?" I ask. I mean I have a car they let me use. I could've easily driven myself.
"I don't want you leaving the library and if you have a car you would've been able to drive wherever you want." She bites back, her grip tightening on the wheel causing his knuckles to whiten. I nod my head and decide to be quiet the rest of the drive. Eventually we pull into the library parking lot and she lets me out. "Don't leave the library. If you're hungry, get something from the corner store. Here's $15. I'll be back at around 4." She tells me while handing me a 10 and 5 dollar bill.
"4? Mom, it's barely 10am! You are leaving me for 6 hours?" I ask, extremely confused.
"Yes, I'm aware of that Tabitha. Now hurry up, I need to get home." She says back like this isn't a big deal.
I frustratedly slam the car door and march into the library. Hiding in the entrance way of the library I pull out my phone to text Harry.
Levi:
hey my mom kicked me out for the day so no bible study
