Guysss I'm not dead, and please believe me: I love each and every comment you guys make. They really light up my days! Now that I'm through with the exam period, I finally have time to write again. So enjoy this (shorter) chapter <3
Rob watches the smoke disappear in the night sky. He's always liked the aesthetic of smoking. It's raw and beautiful, how the tip would light up while his lungs would darken. It's like a bit of enjoyment for the price of an entire life.
"You're staring again."
Another puff of grey vapor leaves his mouth as he lets the words roll over his lips.
"Do you mind?"
Rob beams a light smile, answered by a head shake and deep chuckle.
Jesse brings the cigarette to the edge of his lips.
"I guess I just get a little self-conscious when you stare at me for that long."
Finally he takes the drag.
"How so?"
They follow the image of the smoke.
"I just don't like to be studied. What if you find out too much about me? Chapters you wouldn't like?"
Rob examines him with curious eyes, thinking hard about the right thing to say. His black silhouette appears so blurred in the dark sky, and yet he manages to follow the lines from his forehead down to the chin.
"I think each chapter only makes me appreciate you more."
A comfortable silence settles as both watch the sky, only to be broken again.
"I mean it Jesse. I think I've seen the worst of you already, and as you can see, I'm still here. I wanna get to know you. Truly."
Five fingers lightly against the thin t-shirt fabric. The skin underneath feels cold, but silky, hesitant, yet inviting. Jesse tilts his head to look into the eyes of the one caressing his back.
"That wasn't even the worst."
The balcony railing rattles as he pushes himself off it, quickly leaving the balcony. Rob follows short after.
"At least tell me so I know what to prepare for!"
Jesse can hear Robs voice halling from the other side of the room, as he walks into the bathroom to get a robe. The fuzzy texture hugs his skin around the waste, while the lapels lazily hang down.
"You can't prepare. That's the thing. I just- I just happen."
His fingers twist in the air, as if he's trying to dissolve a knot that isn't there. Rob takes a step closer, now freezing from the chilly air that didn't bother him before.
"Okay."
The lightest smile, hands snaking their way under the robe, up his chest until his freezing finger tips land in his neck. Shortly after, a peck at the nose and he's gone. Gone into the bathroom, a smug smile burned into his cheeks.
"Actually that's the part where you abandon me and leave me heartbroken. You're not supposed to be okay with this?"
Jesses eyebrows knit in confusion, his feet already gliding over the flooring, following Rob into the room dimmed with nothing but candles.
The light throws shadows on Robs features, making it impossible to decipher his expression. With each fiery move, the face changes. He watches him fill up the bathtub.
"You can't escape me, you know. Sabotage all you want. I'm persistent."
A few bottles of product threaten to fall as he flips through Jesses collection of oils. Generously he fills the tub with an entire essence of honey and milk scented bubble bath. The water soon takes the form of a foamy snow-white landscape.
