Jimmy was beginning to think that maybe going to the bridge wouldn't be so bad, he doesn't like the sickbay very much anyway. Maybe he could go back to work. Mr. Spock would let him right? He knows that Jimmy is a good captain and should go back to work right away.
Jimmy was right the first time, he should have stayed with Bones! Going to the bridge was a terrible idea! There were far too many people there. As soon as Mr. Spock walked through the doors of the turbolift everyone was trying to touch him and talk to him, and he didn't like it. Andon top of everything else his throat still felt yucky, and so did his head, and his tummy.
He wanted his Bones. No. He needed Bones! Jimmy needed his Bones right then and there.
Jimmy buried his face into Spock's shoulder to hide from everyone. It should be noted that he was still very mad at Mr. Spock, but he didn't want anybody else to touch him right now. Except for his Bones. Jimmy wants his Bones. But he is still very, very mad at the both of them.
"Would you all stop crowding the poor boy?" Jimmy looked up from Spock's shoulder to see Uhura trying to usher the crew back to their stations.
Jimmy likes Ms. Uhura. She wasn't being a meanie like Bones and Mr. Spock. She was being very nice and making everybody leave him alone. Jimmy likes that.
"Lieutenant Uhura is right." Spock said, continuing to hold Jimmy securely against his body, "Jim does not require the attention of the entire crew, return to your positions."
When the crewman had all returned to their posts, Spock sat down in the captain's chair and Jimmy reached out for Uhura, whining behind his pacifier. He didn't want to sit with Mr. Spock any more, because he's a big meanie, making him leave Bones.
Spock held the boy firmly in place, "Jim, I understand that you are still upset with me, but Lieutenant Uhura has a job to do."
"Can help." Jimmy insisted, still reaching out for Uhura.
"I do not believe she is in need of your assistance at the moment."
"Oh, I don't mind Mr. Spock. I'm sure he'll be plenty of help." Uhura smiled at the little boy, "Won't you, Sweetie?"
Jimmy promptly nodded. He would be so much help. He's good at pressing buttons and giving cuddles. He could be lots of help.
Spock considered it for a moment before giving a nod of approval and set Jimmy down so he could crawl over to Uhura. She herself is a switch, not a full caregiver, but clearly she wasn't regressed at the time, so she would certainly be able to keep Jimmy out of trouble, at least a little bit.
Spock couldn't help but glance back at Jimmy every few seconds. Something about the boy just seemed to capture all of his attention, no matter how illogical it was to watch him so intently while the boy was so safe under Lieutenant Uhura's care.
"Can you push that button for me, Baby Boy?" Uhura asked and Jimmy eagerly nodded, pressing the button Uhura shown him, "Good job! You're such a great helper."
Jimmy was practically beaming, "Mr. Spock! You see? Did you see me?"
Spock almost smiled, "I did. You did very well, Little One."
Jimmy giggled at the nickname. Spock had never given him a nickname before. Bones had lots of nicknames for him, and Uhura liked to call him baby boy, but Mr. Spock had only called him Jim, not even Jimmy.
Before Jimmy could put anymore thought into his exciting new name the doors to the turbolift swished open. Nothing else mattered anymore, his Bones was back! He came back for Jimmy!
"Bones!" Jimmy cried, reaching out for the man from where he sat on the floor.
Leonard smiled, offering his hand to his little boy, "There's my little Darlin'. Let's get you back to your room. We need to get some food in you, then off to bed."
Jimmy whimpered at the mention of food. One of the ways Leonard knew Jimmy was really sick. Normally the kid was a bottomless pit.
Leonard chose not to comment on it. He rubbed the little boy's back and carefully guided him toward the turbolift. Jimmy clung to his arm all the way back to his room. Leonard had enough of his own wardrobe in the captain's quarters for instances such as this where Jim was regressed.
Leonard got Jimmy settled in a seat. Practically having to pry the boy off of his arm to replicate a bowl of soup for him. When he returned and set down the bowl, Jimmy turned away, shoving the bowl away from his body.
"I know that your tummy is botherin' you Darlin', but you need to eat." Leonard said, gently stroking Jimmy's cheek.
Jimmy looked up at Leonard with big pleasing eyes, "Bones do it?"
Leonard smiled, it wasn't often that Jimmy would let him do simple things like feeding him, as much as he hated to see Jimmy so sick, it was nice to be needed, "Of course, Sweetheart."
Leonard had only offered Jimmy three spoonfuls of the chicken soup the little boy turned away with a yawn. He was too tired and sick to eat anymore. Leonard was just glad he'd gotten Jimmy to eat at all.
"Are you tired, Jimmy?" Leonard asked, stifling a laugh.
Jimmy nodded his head, rubbing at his eyes, "Snuggles?"
"You can have all the snuggles you want Darlin'. But how about we get you into some pajamas first?"
"Wear my feetie jammies?" Jimmy asked.
Leonard smiled, "Of course you can, Darlin'."
"Puppy feeties please." Jimmy said as Leonard began looking through his little things for some pajamas.
Leonard grabbed the blue, dog patterned footie pajamas he'd gotten for Jimmy not long after becoming his legal caregiver. The soft fleecy feel had long since been worn away and the feet were close to getting holes in the bottom. They were Jimmy's favorite, Leonard needed to buy him a new pair, but it was difficult while away on mission.
"Let's get you changed, then we can snuggle some more." Leonard said, handing Jimmy the teddy bear that had been on the top of the box and began to unfold the pajamas.
Jimmy didn't put up a fight while Leonard helped him fish his arms and legs through the pajamas. He let the caregiver zip him up and pop a pacifier into his mouth, clipping it to the front of his pajamas for when he inevitably dropped it later.
Jimmy, feeling all warm and comfy, snuggled up into Bones' side with a content sigh. He still felt a little icky, but Bones helped make it better. Being sick was no fun, but Jimmy could not complain about all of the extra cuddles.
