As they started to reach the gym, Aya picking up the familiar sounds of shoes squeaking on the gym floor, Kiyoko started to tell her that a couple of the new first years that were trying to join the volleyball club had challenged Daichi, their team captain, to a match to win their placement on the team though this match wouldn't be held until this Saturday.

"Seriously? Who are these first years?" Aya asked as Kiyoko let out a light laugh.

"Their names are Tobio Kageyama and Shoyo Hinata. When they came to apply this last Monday, they acted like rivals so I'm not surprised Daichi is being harsh with them." She explained as Aya nodded. "This is a team sport as you know and Daichi told them that they needed to view themselves as teammates and not as enemies and until they did so, they couldn't join club activities. It was funny when Kageyama decided to challenge him to a match to show him that they could do as he asked."

Aya shook her head at this and let out a sigh. First year's, man. Really? The one thing she didn't want to deal with if she actually became their manager was first years with an attitude problem.

"Since they can't join club activities, they're not allowed to enter the Gym until this Saturday. It's a couple days away but I've seen the two practicing out in the track field." She explained before they both walked into the gym. As they did, several sets of eyes landed on them just as one of the guys Aya recognized by the name of of Ryūosuke Tanaka landed a spike to the other side of the net. He was a kid in the same grade as her with a shaved head, fair skin and sharp blue-grey eyes. Tanaka grinned at the two of them, curious to see Aya here, and welcomed Kiyoko in excitement, "You're looking beautiful as always Kiyoko!! We were getting worried about you!" He said as he ran over to her, Aya blinking at his over-excitement to see said girl. The guy obviously had a major crush on her, though judging by Kiyoko's composure, she didn't care nor pay him any heed. This made Aya laugh inside. She knew Tanaka from her class and his personality was a bit exhausting for her taste but he was a sweet guy outside the tough guy act he tries so hard to display.

On the court, she saw a few she didn't recognize, though she did know Daichi and Sugawara. They were both third years along with Kiyoko and though they were, Aya had begun to get to know each of them the many times her team last year ran into them during tourneys in their prefecture. Before I continue, you're probably wondering, if that's true then how did she not run into Kiyoko? I'll get to that later in the story.

As they walked in, she noticed that Sugawara was on the other side of the court keeping score while Daichi had been part of the group on one side of the net going against Tanaka and his three-man team. Sugawara had waved at them both before giving Tanaka a look, "Hey I'm sure she had her reasons for being late." He said watching Daichi walk over to them though before he could say anything, Kiyoko spoke up. She apologized with a bow before explaining why she was running late and introduced Aya right after. Everyone immediately recognized her and was surprised to see her here, not even knowing that Kiyoko had known her in the past. Aya scratched her head in embarrassment as everyone welcomed her and started bombarding her with questions about her ankle and how she knew Kiyoko. Aya hasn't gotten used to the fact that she had been such the talk around school last year, especially with everyone knowing her from all the articles that had been written about her in sport magazines. Her quick sprout to stardom in her first year honestly still felt like a fairytale story and it was still strange to her when so many recognized her.

"Aya!! I overheard what you said to your teammates. You really can't play volleyball anymore?" Tanaka asked as Aya shook her head. She wasn't surprised that he overheard what she told them. Though he was in her class, she hadn't realized that he was one of the few that lingered before finally leaving.
