CHAPTER TWENTY ONE   :                            PROPOSING ELEPHANTS

I woke up with the smell of warm broth and the delicious scent of bread. I propped my elbow and there’s hot food waiting for me to devour, Archer’s eating his food and smiles warmly at me,

“Who bring this?” I ask as I survey the food laid beside me, Archer just pout his lip and I see Tessa’s back inside the comfort room, I can finally lift myself so I started eating my food. Oh… The goodness of home cooked food.

Tessa went out eventually with a wet cloth at hand; she smiled at me so soft I remember my mother… My stare went to Archer, before the bloody night we are conversing about his mother. I should take time to talk about that with him soon.

“Eat now, I’ll help you clean yourself after,” I blush on what Tessa just said as she sits beside me, has she forgot we have another company? I watch Archer’s cheeks flush pink, wait a minute? I should be the one to be embarrassed not him!

“Shake it off!” I protest as he finally broke into a fit of laughter, why was he laughing?

“Maybe I shall call Victor too to help me clean myself, you know?” This time it was Tessa who blushed, yeah, blame your blunt tongue girl! She throws him the casserole lid which he dodge with his casted arm and flinch right after, Tessa and Archer continued vexing each other while I busy myself in finishing my food.

“I can really use some help for cleaning myself too.” Archer loudly states outside, Tessa help me have a half bath after days of being in a hospital gown, I came out in a pair of comfy pyjamas, and Archer scanned my body and mouthed ‘unfair’ but Tessa just poke his head with a wet towel. They continue the bickering until he decided to have Victor around, Tessa’s checking on her phone while I ask Archer about his casted arm; Tessa faced us with rushed emotions,

“What’s wrong?” I can sense there’s something she wants to spill, she swallows obviously and looks at me straight in the eyes.

“I’m getting married!” she half squealed half whispered, my mouth hangs open while Archer looks dingbat,

“I was about to tell you but when I came back but learned about what happened so I pushed it aside and waited and then I only got to tell it now because I think you’re finally alright-“

“Hush girl! I’m so happy for you! Congratulations!” I am squealing with her,

                “You’re not mad?” she reassures,

“Why would I be? Damn, you’re going to be a wife soon!”

“I pity Carlos.”   Archer murmurs but Tessa really is gifted with clear and sharp hearing skills, she throws him a pillow that the latter didn’t dodge,

“If I die of flying hospital pillows I’ll make sure to haunt you!” Archer barks back, I really love this playful side of him,

“When, how, where did the proposal happened?” I heard Archer snort with my inquiry but I just ignore him, he lay back in bed with his back to us,

“We are on a work off in Thailand, decided to stroll and experience their culture, we are riding an elephant when he propped to one knee and took my hand and ask me for marriage, as in, oh my gosh! It’s so sudden I was so caught off guard, then I said yes and we kissed…” we are both squealing again when Archer butts in again,

“What? The elephant your riding proposed to you? Wow Tessa you really are for the wild!” and another flying pillow,

“How do elephants knew about kissing?” Tessa got up from my bed and went to him and pinch his side so hard he almost cry-laugh at it.

“Barbaric!” he barks back. Tessa gave me some of the details of the wedding and I listen to her eagerly, I am so happy she’s finally tying the knot.

It’s around midday and Archer and I just finished talking about how barbarically protective Tessa can be, I have this smile plastered on my face whenever I remember her sweet helpless stories about them.

“What’s with the face?” Archer asks me, I just shake my head but he’s so persistent I can’t help but answer his inquiry.

“I am just overwhelmed that Tessa’s finally tying the knot with her ‘ultimate love’” Archer snorts anew, “What? You can’t take that away from us to get thrilled with the thought of marriage.” I explained, he suddenly turned silent, I lay to my side facing him, I watch his expression turn serious,

“If I ask for your hand for marriage right now, will you accept it?” he asks, we are staring eye to eye, I shake my head and I watch as regret eat him,

“Ours is a different story. We have so many circumstances and peoples involve within it…” I didn’t take my eyes away from him, he closes his eyes and when he opens them again there’s this longing that lies within,

“If you just showed up that night at Casa Greta, I think we have our own minions now.” I smile at him tenderly; he calls his own offspring minions, how cute! I just shake my head and thankfully Victor came in, Archer told Victor about Tessa’s ‘proposing elephant’ they laugh about how they pity Carlos because Tessa, for one, really has heavy hands. Victor played nanny to Archer and I kept on laughing because while they are inside the comfort room, Victor kept on making unnecessary sounds and nasty remarks that will make you think that their doing something dirty inside, I clutch my stomach as I hear Archer slap him so hard then Victor, in a trying female voice moan as if she’s being you know.

Well, I guess, after every storm there shines a rainbow.
