CHAPTER FORTY: CASUAL NIGHT OUT

Everything went well after the wedding of my best friend.

We started practicing too because we only have two weeks before the anniversary. Sadly, Harold has to dance with Monique, though I deeply wanted to object, Vic's advice echoes inside me, I have to trust him no matter what.

Well, Victor seeing the disappointment in me did what he's best at, making everyone happy, and making me happy.

Instead that we have a sole performance, he include in Matt partnered with Gail and Jean partnered with Dean. Well the first few practices turned out to be just goofing around for all we did was laugh and made fun of each other regardless that the instructor is supervising us.

During lunch, we all sit together and ponder all the funny antics that we did on every session, with our laughter roaring the cafeteria, everybody is looking at us.

"But nothing beats Gail! Damn, never knew you can stretch those legs." And we break to a fit of giggles again, Gail looks like a overripe tomato, it really came to us like a surprise that Gail is a gymnast, she's just too shy to be proud of her talent, and Dean being too insecure keeps on bringing it up,

"How I wish I can stretch mine that wide, good gracious what possibilities it can bring." With Dean's last sentiment Matt spit the water he's drinking, and just like Gail looked like a tomato from the blunt dreams of my dear friend.

"What?! I am just admiring the talent? What now again?" Dean defends innocently but we are all laughing our gases out, Matt gives him a cautious look, but smiles to us apologetically.

Vic's sitting beside me, since our talk on the wedding day, I feel like there is more to him than meets the eye, though he's always his jolly self, there's this blank look in his eyes especially when Monique is near the area.

"Mind if I join you?"

Speaking of the devil...

I feel Victor stiffen beside with a bottle of juice mid-air, the playful look in his face turned to be downright, instead of finishing his drink he just put it down back the table, everyone remained silent, Jean's giving me that look, fine...

"Sure!" I squeak, Jean bites her lower lip and looks elsewhere,

"You're laughter is deeply inviting so I really aimed to sit with you guys, so what's up?" Monique chirps lively, as in like she's an unremarkable good girl, which she's not! Okay, just being too personal, but can you blame me?

"Ah! We are just reminiscing some of our goofing antics during the rehearsals, by the way, how was your dance going?" I ask trying to sound cool, the whole group remained silent, that kind of suspicious silence.

"Well, your boyfriend is really good." When she said that, a pinch in the heart, I feel like I wanted to strangle someone, but I remained calmed, I stare at her more interestingly,

"I-I mean not that kind of 'good' way, he's a good dancer to start with, he has this natural charisma in him and I really feel challenged because he catches up with the instructor faster than me,"

"Maybe you're just playing dumb to use the opportunity well." Victor butts in, but there's danger in his tone and accusation, I am starting to feel uneasy between this two,

"I see. Got an issue with me Mr. Lopez?" Monique sounds offended, there's dead silence, deadly air gap. Though I really wanted to say something I can't push myself to speak.
