AJ's P.O.V.
The song ends and we both fall back onto my bed, laughing and just enjoying ourselves. I love having these moments to remember forever. Its the type of moments that make living in this hell hole not so bad. It gives me hope that there is a chance that life could get better.
All the good times that I have had with Abby and all the other kids, I'm going to cherish those for the rest of my life. The kids in this orphanage became my family. Yeah, it sucked being the oldest but I wouldn't change a thing. I just hope that they don't have to be here as long as I have.
As our laughing fits calmed down, we just lay on our backs on my bed and stare at the ceiling. For a few minutes it's peaceful, just laying here not doing anything. It gives me the few minutes I need to actually process the fact that I'm being adopted. Its almost unbelievable, I've been in a couple foster homes but I've never been adopted.
I take a deep breath as I sit up to continue packing. I get up and finish packing up the rest of my stuff on the bookshelf. After I finish, I look around my room one last time to see if I've missed anything. As I'm looking around, I finally noticed just how empty my small room is now. It doesn't even look like I've been here for the passed 12 years.
I zip up the second suitcase and move it off my bed and onto the floor with the first one by the door. I turn around and walk back towards my bed and sit down next to Abby.
For the rest of the night we lay on my bed and talk. For the next few hours we laugh, we cry, we make jokes and tell stories. I am having the best night in a long time, I wish that it didn't have to come to an end. But at around 2am, we both fell asleep with small smiles on our faces.
The next morning, I wake up to the sound of my alarm going off at 7am. I reach over to turn it off and sit up and try and rub the sleep out of my eyes. I hear a small groan next to me and look over to see Abby sit up and stretch. We both slowly get out of bed and get dressed into clothes that I left out and Abby got from her room. I changed into a old Guns n Roses shirt and some jeans and my worn out black converse while Abby changed into a shirt that was tie-dyed and some jeans as well as her worn out black converse.
We sit on my bed for the next hour or so just talking and enjoying ourselves just a little bit more before I have to leave. Once it got to 8:45am I took a deep breath and got up off the bed and walked over to the door and grabbed my suitcases. Abby got up and opened the door as I took one last look around the room I've lived in for the last 12 years.
After one last breath, I turn around and walk out of the room with Abby shutting the door behind us as she comes into the hallway. We walk through the hallway heading towards the stairs, but stop at Abby's room so she could put her things away. When she comes back we both continue our way to the stairs, then walk down them and head to the living room so I can put my suitcases down.
Without any talking between us, we get to the living room and put down my suitcases and then we walk into the dining room so we can grab something to eat.
