Dreams Do Come True

Chapter 15

AJ's P.O.V.

We decided to look on Disney Plus to see if we can decide on what to watch. After a few commentaries from each of us, we decided that we were going to watch the first High School Musical. It's a movie that we all like and it's a Disney Channel classic. Also it's a movie that we can sing along too, you can never go wrong with a musical.

When we got to the part of the movie were Gabriella sings 'When There Was Me And You', I couldn't help but whole-heartedly sing along. It's my favorite song from this movie. Even though I've never had any type of relations with a boy, I still like to pretend when singing these types of songs.

When the song is over I look over at Autumn and Ayden, they are looking at me with their jaws touching the floor. I look at them with the look of confusion on my face, wondering why they are looking at me like that.

"What?" I ask, voicing my thoughts.

"You can sing?!?!?!" They both say at the same time, looking at me with wide eyes.

"Uh- yeah I guess." I say feeling a little embarrassed.

We were all quiet for a minute, as the movie continued. I didn't know what to say. I never really sang in front of people other than Abby. I'm not scared to sing in front of anyone, it's just that I only ever sang in my room and Abby was the only one that ever went into my room.

"Wow. I know you said that you liked to sing but I didn't think that you had that good of a voice. I mean I like to sing too but I can't sing to save my life." Autumn says with a small laugh while Ayden nods along to what she is saying, laughing too.

"I never really paid much attention, I just know that I love singing. Abby is the only one that has heard me sing." I say, playing with the ends of my now dry hair.

"Well you have a beautiful voice." Ayden says giving me a reassuring smile.

We go back to watching the movie. As each song plays, we enjoy ourselves by singing along word for word. Once the movie is over and the credits start rolling, we all get up from our spots on the couches.

Ayden shuts off the tv and we all make our way up the stairs to make it to our rooms.

"Goodnight AJ. Sleep well, we will see you in the morning." Autumn says as she and Ayden both give me a goodnight hug.

I wrap my arms around them as well and wish them goodnight.

We head to our respected rooms and I close my door behind me. I walk into my bathroom and brush my teeth and wash my face. When I am done with that, I make my way to my bed. I pull the top sheet and comforter back and climb in. I cover up and get comfortable staring up at the ceiling.

As I try and go to sleep, my mind just keeps buzzing around the fact that I was adopted. It feels unreal that I'm no longer in my to small room at the orphanage. Hell, I'm not even in the same state. I'm starting a new life for myself. Starting tomorrow, I'm no longer the girl living in a orphanage.

I take a deep breath and move onto my side, getting into a more comfortable position. After a few more minutes of me just laying there with my eyes closed, I finally was able to fall into a deep sleep.
