AJ's P.O.V.
We sit down at the table and I reach for a homemade chocolate chip muffin and eat that. As I finish my muffin, I over hear the sound of the doorbell but don't pay any mind to it. I continued my conversation with a couple of kids that are surrounding me at the table when I hear someone from behind me, calling my name.
I look behind me to see Miss. Jones looking at me with no type of emotion on her face. I get up from my seat at the table with a sigh, pushing the chair underneath the table. I turn around and feel Abby run into my body, giving me the tightest hug. I wrap my arms around her feeling the sadness set in.
Don't get me wrong I'm happy that I'm finally getting adopted but that happiness still doesn't cover the fact that I'm leaving the kids that I pretty much raised and think of as my family. For the next 5 minutes, I'm giving hug after hug to all the kids that are surrounding me then follow Miss. Jones.
As I follow her, I make a quick stop in the living room and grab my things and wave bye to the kids that are in there and continue to her office.
As we get to the doorway to her office, she continues to walk through it as I stop outside to take a breath and close my eyes. I open my eyes and walk through the door and see the two people that are changing my life probably for the better.
They must have heard me cause they both turn around to look at me with the same happy loving smiles that they had yesterday. I look back at them with a shy smile and a awkward wave once I get to the corner of the room and set my suitcases down.
"Ok the last thing I need you guys to do is sign these last couple of forms and then you're good to go and take her home." Says Miss. Jones with her fake smile.
I play with the ends of my natural curly brown hair, not saying anything as they finish with the paperwork that makes them officially my parents. I must have zoned out because the next thing I know, I hear the sound of chairs scratching across the floor and Autumn and Ayden getting up out of their seats shaking Miss. Jones hand smiling.
"It was nice meeting you and thank you for all your help." Ayden says.
"It was my pleasure, nice meeting you too. Bye AJ" Miss. Jones said
"Come on AJ, its time to go home." Autumn says with a smile as she reaches out and puts her hand on my back. As Autumn leads me out of the room, I noticed that Ayden grabbed my suitcases. We walk down the hallway to the front door when I once again feel small arms wrap around my waist.
I immediately know who it is and bend down giving her one last hug. We pull away from each other after a minute and I see the small tears falling down her face. I reach up and wipe them away trying to control my own tears, giving a small smile.
"Don't cry beautiful. You're to pretty to cry." I say to her.
"I'm going to miss you." She says as the tears continue to fall.
"I'm going to miss you too. But we will see each other again. I can't promise when but I can promise that it will happen. It could be in a couple months, or a couple years or it will be when you're an adult and have a family. Whatever happens, don't forget that I will always love you. You are my little sister and I wouldn't trade you for anything." I finish my little speech as now tears run down my face.
She nods her head to show that she was listening to me.
"Promise me one thing ok?"
"What?" She asks
"Promise me that no matter how cruel this world gets, remember to believe in yourself. Remember that you are beautiful inside and out and nobody can take that away from you. If someone says otherwise, just know that they are wrong and that most likely they are just jealous. And lastly, never lose the person that you are inside. Always be the kind and caring person that I know you are and follow your dreams. I love you Abby, with all my heart. I hope you never forget that." I finish.
"I promise AJ. I love you too, don't forget about me either." She says still crying, giving me another hug.
We hug each other for a couple seconds more before we let go of each other and I stand up. We both wipe our faces to get rid of the tears that are still flowing down our faces.
"Bye AJ" Abby says as she moves up against the wall and out of my way.
"Bye Abby" I say giving her a small wave and walk out the front door, just realizing that Autumn and Ayden must of came out to give us some space.
I walk down to their car where Autumn is in the process of getting in the passenger seat and Ayden is standing with the back door behind the driver's seat open, waiting for me. I walk up to him, give him a small smile and a quiet thank you as I get in and buckle up and he closes my door and gets into the driver's seat.
He starts the car and we back out of the driveway. I look out the window and see Abby standing on the front porch, waving at me as we back out. I give her a smile and wave until she can no longer see me. I put my hand down and watch as the neighborhood goes by.
