New York was glamorous⸺aside from the undeniable surface flaws. The city was overpopulated and had an increase in homeless people. However, the shine reflecting from the multiple buildings over Times Square screamed that dreams came true. And that was enough for them.
The New Directions found themselves absorbing the environment. It was loud, bright, and crowded⸺the glee club loved it. The scenery was so captivating; it was nothing like Lima. For the first time, they felt bigger than their hometown and the life that surrounded them there. New York felt different, almost like it was where they were meant to be.
It felt to them like an accomplishment, and they had worked hard to get here. They had faced many challenges and doubts along the way, but they made it.
The group of teenagers found themselves places to sit and look around while they waited for further instruction from their teacher. Kurt had been rambling about Broadway and pointing out the many musical billboards scattered throughout Time Square to Faye, who felt more free than ever.
Her smile felt softer, not as strained as it was in Ohio. She didn't feel the constant need to look over her shoulder and fear seeing her past creeping up behind her. Her worries were far away, no longer whispering in her ear. She adored the feeling.
To her left, just a few feet away, Quinn watched Faye's grin grow wider as the redhead looked up at the city keenly. The Hastings girl looked like a kid in a candy shop⸺the possibilities were endless, and all of them seemed like the perfect one.
The blonde girl felt a smile grow upon her face as she watched Faye. New York reeked of freedom and new personas, and Quinn was ready to act on it.

As quickly as New York was within their reach⸺it was snatched away. Mr. Shue had gathered the group of teenagers into one hotel room and declared that they could not leave until they wrote two winning songs for Nationals.
