Chapter Twenty Five: Annabeth

Chapter Twenty Five: Annabeth

Her stomach twisted in knots when she saw Percy. She's been with him for days, but looking at him from a far made her angry. His arms were covered in cuts, bruises, and scars from numerous battles, he was shaky and limping, his eyes that once were full of humor and courage are now filled with exhaustion, fear and pain. When Annabeth growled in anger her chest throbbed where the Hydra bit her. Gaea had partially healed her. She kicked the dirt bars, even being made of dirt, they were solid. She screamed in anger. If her friends on the Argo II were coming, where were they? She had to some how keep both herself and Percy alive. The monsters got closer to Percy.

He pointed Riptide at them, he was barely able to stand, let alone fight the monsters. He slashed half heartly. Annabeth didn't know the last time he slept, his eyelids were drooping. He was about to get sliced in half, when half of the arena exploded. Monsters screamed as they turned into a very colorful pile of dust. Monster dust flew everywhere, Percy had collapsed and Annabeth was choking on the dust. The cage around her melted and Gaea dissapeared. In place of the broken arena was a huge metal contraption. Leo. Had to be. That's when a door opened and all of their friends ran out. Hazel picked up Percy and everyone made their way up to Annabeth. She still choked on the dust, but tears streamed down her cheeks. Piper was the first to get there. She hugged Annabeth until she couldn't breathe. Leo came up "Hey Piper give everyone else a chance before you suffocate her" he smirked. Piper released her grip. After several hugs, Annabeth was finally able to walk over to Hazel. She was carrying Percy. "I can take him" Annabeth said reaching her arms out, after all of those days she felt very protective of Percy. Hazel handed him over, instinly she knew he had a fever, he was shaking, but his forehead was burning. "We need to get back to the ship"Jason said "Before the confused dust finds the rest of its body" he added. Everyone walked out, towards the metal machine. Percy's eyes flutterd open, "This is supposed to be the other way around" he whisperd, not noticing everyone. "See? Girls can be strong to" she chuckled. "Hey sleepy head" Nico said walking next to them. Percy questionly glanced at Annabeth for an explanation. "How long was I out?" he asked. "Long enough for me to draw on your face" Leo said, Hazel elbowed him when Percy quickly put his hand to his face. "Let me walk, we are almost there" he said to Annabeth. She reluctantly put him down, his face paled when he put weight on his leg. But he refused to be carried. He accepted Annabeth's hand, so she could kind of support him. They made it to the metal thing, with a giant groan, a door opened. "Are you sure this is safe?" Percy asked. "Safe enough" Leo said walking inside. "We don't have any ambrosa with us, so your going to have to wait" Leo said "Nico forgot to pack it" Leo shook his head, Nico stood behind him and mouthed the word liar. Annabeth sat down at a table when Aleana and Serenia walked in.

"Are you two okay?" Serenia asked. Annabeth shook her head yes, which caused Aleana to loosen up. Leo ran downstairs "Argo II, I'm going, I don't know if you are" he said walking out the door. Percy tried standing up, but fell, hitting his head on the side of the table. Annabeth picked him up, "Shut up, I'm carrying you" she said before he could protest. When the door opened Annabeth shrieked and almost dropped Percy, he quickly put his hands to his eyes too. The sun was shinning, burning her eyes. Nico rummaged through his back pack and pulled out two pairs of black sun glasses. He put them both on them, "You'll need to wear these until your eyes adjust" he said.

When they were on the Argo II, Annabeth wanted to cry. The memories flooded back to her. They made both Percy and her take ambrosa. Percy's cuts turned into thin scars and color flooded back into his face. "I'm going to go to my room for a little bit" she said, Hedge came on the deck, "Nope, you guys need showers, your not the cleanest people in the world" he said shaking his head. "Says the half goat" Percy said, Hedge glared at him.

An hour later, Annabeth sat on her bed and untangled her wet hair. Leo was making dinner, but she was starving, she lost a lot of weight being in Tartarus and not having to eat. She was in clean, warm clothes. She heard a knock on her door, she opened it, Percy was standing there. "Come in" she said. He handed her a sandwich and a soda, "I wasn't planning on waiting for Leo to make dinner, I haven't eaten in days, I'm starving, no one tells me when I can't eat" he smiled at her. She wolfed down the sandwich and soda, "Well I guess Leo won't be feeding us our first meal" she smiled. "Do you think things will be the same?" he asked finishing his soda. "What do you mean?" she asked. "Everything. I don't know, I guess Gaea, the monsters, war. Are all these things going to still happen?" he asked. "I don't know, I've never thought that" she admitted. "Think about it Wise Girl" he said kissing her. He walks out, closing the door behind him. She never thought like that, the only thing she thought of was getting them out. "Dinner" Leo called through the microphone.

Everyone was sitting at the table when she walked in. "I have slaved on your first meal since your return!" Leo beamed, Percy smiled at Annabeth. It was soup and warm rolls. "Wait until you see desert!" Leo smiled. They ate for about five minutes when Percy dropped his spoon. He had a blank expression and his eyes were wide. "Percy? You okay?" Frank asked standing up. Percy stood up bumping the table, spilling soup all over. He ran out of the room and Annabeth could hear his door slam. "Does he have allergies? Or is my soup that bad?" Leo asked, scratching the back of his neck nervously. "I don't know, but I'll go see" Nico said, shaking his head. He walked out of the room. Annabeth left to her room. She plopped on her bed and closed her eyes.

When she woke up she screamed. Percy wasn't next to her. He wasn't anywhere to be seen. Something was wrapped around her, it kept tightening around her making it hard to breathe. A light flicked on and Hazel was standing there. "It's okay" she said sitting on the end of the bed. The thing that was tightening around her was a blanket. She was in her bed. Not Tartarus. "How's Percy" she asked, her voice cracking. "No one knows what happened with dinner, he's not talking. But he woke up screaming too. Leo had a stupid idea to give him a sleeping pill. So now he's in the sickbay screaming, not able to wake up yet" Hazel said sadly. Annabeth pulled the blanket away from her and threw it on the floor. "I will get his blood" Gaeas voice filled her room.
