"Why don't you bring her for dinner this weekend?", Devjani asked peeking through her glasses meeting Satyavati's eyes, "She sounds like someone who would enjoy our company."

Satyavati frowned her brows and mumbled, "She is too young Dev. Barely a teen. Why would she like to ruin her weekend with three middle aged lunatics."

"The last time I checked, teenagers like my company", Devjani closed the book she was reading and pointed towards Satyavati,"And it seems she already likes the craziest loony of the lot enough to spend her every waking moment with her."

"We will see about it", Satyavati mumbles awkwardly averting her eyes from her mother's piercing hazel gaze.

Devjani was about to come back with a smart remark about how Satyavati had been constantly talking about this new disciple of her over years now yet avoiding bringing her home but before she could conjure her words Satyavati's phone started ringing.

"I need to take this", Satyavati looked at the screen and excused her to her study.

Devjani took a deep breath, her eyes stayed fixed on the closed door of the study. She understood well when her daughter was avoiding a conversation. They had been too close to each other to not understand what makes the other uncomfortable.

Satyavati had been excitedly talking about this particular student of hers from the every day she met her in G.R. Memorial High School in one of her self defense lessons. Devjani was amused at how happy Satyavati looked talking about a kid. She had never been good with kids, particularly pre-teens. But it seemed the young girl shared her field of interest in martial arts which initially attracted Satyavati.

It was not long before Satyavati started taking the girl to her gym for personal Taekwondo lessons. She would often tell stories of her new achievements during family time or dinner. The girl was doing well in her Martial Art training Devjani assumed.

At the beginning the stories were limited and irregular. But as time passed Tasha Pallav started occupying larger parts of the tales Satyavati told them. That girl had been spending some good amount of time with Satyavati and it seemed her parents weren't bothered about it either.

It happened over years but Satyavati's bond with the kid strengthened. Satyavati was gaining access to her personal life as well. She would hang out with her, take her to various competitions, parties, even at times in her NGO. Satyavati told Devjani about Tasha's family issues as well. All of Satyavati's friends were introduced to Tasha by then. Everyone liked her, at least that was what Satyavati told Devjani.

All those stories about Tasha got Devjani and Sayani curious. They were eager to meet the girl that had been affecting Satyavati so much, cause they of all people knew Satyavati was not one to be easily moved by someone. But Satyavati had always laughed it off whenever Devjani or Sayani proposed that she brought her in for dinner or just a casual weekend meet-up.

Devjani had seen Tasha's pictures. She found the girl with a friendly warm smile pretty likable. It still didn't strike her odd that Satyavati would be so attentive towards a kid, someone she met amongst the crowd.
