The room is nothing less than spectacular, wall-to-wall bookcases filled with books. A tobacco leather sofa and ceiling-high windows framed with thick black iron, sheer curtains soften the look and they puddle on the oak floors.
His bed is spacious, deep black silk sheets lie waiting under a charcoal linen quilt, the deep indigo blue upholstered headboard is lined with an assortment of cushions and pillows lit up by brass wall sconces, only Rome himself could ever look more enticing.
The room is sophisticated and masculine, there are no doors on the closet but every item of clothing he owns is sorted by colour and function, the door to the ensuite is comprised of frosted glass.
"Movie?" Rome asks as he lays me down amongst his pillows. I shake my head. "Music then?" He smiles almost nervously.
I smile back but don't find any words.
Rome sits down and takes my feet into his lap, he removes the socks and checks the bandages, he kisses the arch of one foot gently, then the other.
I wonder if all his patients get the same level of devotion from Dr Knight?
"It was stupid of me, I just thought if you ever got out, having no shoes would slow you down. I just never imagined a scenario where you didn't have a choice. These injuries are on me, I hope you can forgive me." Rome confesses.
"It's bothersome, I mean this is the last of sandal weather we'll see for a while I imagine" I shrug it off.
"If you ever got out....? I can't actually fathom that's a sentence I would use. I'm not sorry you're safe.... But everything else, Lucy. God, I'm so sorry" he breathes deep and I watch his back rise and fall.
"Rome? Everything else?" I check.
"Everything before the second you held my hand" he scoffs now smiling just a little.
"I'm sure you'll think of something to make up for everything else, how about you start with these pants?" I suggest.
I lift my hips and Rome gets the point, he takes the waistband and shimmies my gifted sweatpants down my legs. He left the white lace thong his sister provided in place, and by the quick glimpse of the tag she removed, they were quite expensive for their size.
His hand spreads wide over my stomach and he takes up all the space, it feels amazing.
"I just need a little clarification, I would hate for you to think I'm rushing things....." he looks up into my eyes while caressing gently, already my hips start to roll.
"What is it, Doc?" I breathe.
"We agreed that I'm your boyfriend.... That I'm yours..... does that in turn, imply that you, Lucy, are my girlfriend?" He exhales like that was a lump in his throat he had to work clear. "Can I call you mine?"
"Roman.... It's important to you, isn't it?" I sit up and gently brush his hair back with both hands.
His eyes close like this is heaven to him. I kiss his jaw softly.
"Yes," he whispers still with those dark eyes closed.
I've never felt more owned than I do with him, I try to think of going home tomorrow to that empty house and not seeing him walk into the room. I think about not hearing his laugh or feeling his warm embrace.
I don't want to live a life like that.
"Body and soul, Roman Knight" I smile against his lips, his breath rushes over me as he exhales in relief.
"Oh God, Luce..... thank you" he trembles and crushes me in those big arms.
"We don't get a choice, remember? I want you, there's nothing I can do about that. You feel so good that I don't want to fight it, I want you" I try hard to explain the unexplainable.
"I want you more than I've wanted anything my whole life.... that small taste of pleasure you gave... I need more. But, sweetheart, we need to move slowly. Your heart can only take so much"
He refers to my medical state I know, but emotionally, I agree.
I can only take so much before I ignite.
He rolls back those silk sheets while I remove my tank top. His rumble of approval echoes in my ear as he lowers me back down between the sheets.
I don't want to move slow, I want fast and rock hard.
But Rome stands and walks away from the bed to pick up his phone.
A voice comes through those integrated speakers telling me the locks are activated, Rome changes the music from jazz to calming rainforest sounds backed by gentle piano.
It's an odd choice, but I like it.
