Hey y'all!

I am alive. I am writing. I am getting a little less patient.

I hope you know I appreciate you all as readers, especially those who are reading this now, but I do not appreciate the demands on updates. I am a junior in high school, in case you didn't know. For those who are also juniors or have been juniors, you know how important this year is. This year helps determine my future and what college I get into.

I AM WRITING, but at my own pace and I hope you can respect that. If you can't, please check out my newest addition KILLING KC BLARES.

Just a note, instead of demanding an update or commenting "Update," maybe you can comment on my actual story so I'm inspire to update.

Just a thought.

Thank you,

KC Blares

 Chapter 21 ~ The Pressure

KC’s P.O.V.

I’d let her down. I’d let them all down.

Abby, the town’s people, the pack; they were relying on me to save them and I couldn’t do it. I can’t do it. Abby had been with me through bullies and loss, practically saving my life. But when she needed me most, I was helpless to save her. I was helpless.

I was in the bathroom when Damon came up. The personal buffet I had made earlier that day was making a second appearance and it wasn’t as good as I remembered it to be. It was quick though and once the morning sickness passed I pushed myself away from the toilet and sat against the wall. I rested my forehead against my balled fists and tried to catch my breath.

“I know it sucks now, vixen, but it’s going to be better,” Damon said as he walked towards me. He sat down on the floor in front of me and placed his hand gently over my arm. I raised my head to look at him, my eyes sore as if I hadn’t slept in days.

“What am I supposed to do, Damon? Sit in this room and wait for Doyle’s attack? I’m a sitting duck! A sitting pregnant duck!”

“No, Kace,” he whispered, grasping my hand. “You’re safe.”

“But I don’t want to be safe! I want to fight! I want to protect our people… I want to save my friends,” I argued. It was pointless. I knew the decision was final and that, at this point, there was nothing I could do about it.

“You will protect our people by protecting yourself. And Abby? Do you think she’d want you to sacrifice yourself to save her? She’d want you to be safe.” He paused to stare at me. “We will save her. We’ll save all of them.” I opened my mouth to speak but he wasted no time stopping me.

“Kace, I’m not going to argue with you about it anymore,” he said and that was the end of that. I pressed my lips together and stared at him long and hard, his brown eyes matching mine with the same intensity. However, we both looked away when there was a knock at the door. He looked at me once more before getting to his feet and leaving to get it.

“Hey, training just ended and we thought we’d come by to see how KC’s doing.” It was Amber’s soft voice and I sighed as I used to wall to stand.
