About time, right guys? My most sincerest apologies! It's been a crazy summer and I barely have enough downtime as it is without school starting in two weeks :(

Anyway, I hope this chapter is exceptional (I worked quite feverishly into the night) and I hope to upload the next chapter shortly :)

This chapter is also dedicated to PrincePegasus because I believe he is a phenominal young man and a very talented writer. I dearly suggest that you check out his work ASAP. I believe his story is absolutely amazing and i hope you do, too :)

Chapter 18 ~ Crimson Sun

Damon’s P.O.V.

A crack of thunder woke me before KC could. I shot up in my bed, KC’s whimpers masked by the harsh pattering of rain against the large windows and ceiling. The sky was black with clouds and made a stage for the dancing streaks of light, the drums of thunder shaking the house and the howling wind providing a chorus.

KC was twisted into the sheets of the bed, her flushed face wrinkled in pain. She grabbed violently at the bedding as she bared her teeth towards the ceiling, her canines drawn. Sweat coated her skin and dampened her pajamas, beads collecting around her face.

“KC,” I cooed, moving closer to her. A loud roar of thunder followed a flash of lightning, one that casted ominous shadows around the room. The rain came in torrents against the glass, the scenery past it nothing but distorted silhouettes. I grabbed her balled fist and squeezed lightly, trying to offer comfort.

Another crash of thunder shook the house and a whimper broke through KC’s bared teeth, the wind howling violently now. I inched closer to her and snaked an arm around her waist, drawing her into me. Softly, I leaned into her and pressed my lips to my mark, KC’s hand relaxing in my own.

“Vixen, I’m here,” I whispered near her ear reassuringly, trying to chase the nightmare from her sleep. My breath fanned the hairs on the back of her neck, my lips trailing lightly over her skin. Her back eased into my chest and I wound both my arms around her waist, my lips still resting against the nape of her neck. Slowly and gradually, she calmed down, her nightmare seemingly faded.

Rain lightly tapped at the windows now, the thunder nothing but distant growls. Lightning still illuminated the sky here and there, but the storm was nowhere near as violent anymore. I was even able to catch a glimpse of the thin slice of moon through the thinning, grey clouds.

It was the crack of dawn when KC and I walked out into the dew-plagued clearing. The sun was just barely peeking over the towering black trees, a sliver of yellow below the pink and orange hues of the waking sky. Lingering storm clouds were dashed across the sky, but painted a light gold by the sun’s fingers. A chorus of singing birds rang from between the trees, reaching our keen ears the moment we stepped out of the house. I could smell a rabbit feasting on dandelions and other weeds somewhere in the undergrowth, tiny squeaks from a litter echoing in my ears.

“Now, KC, you promised if we did this that you’d tell me to stop if you were hurting,” I said as we passed the fire pit and neared the center of the clearing.

“I know, I know,” she rolled in irritation, making me snicker.

“Alright, so how would you like to start?” I questioned as I turned to her. She pursed her lips in thought and crossed her arms.
