Sorry for the late update. I have had so much work consuming my life as well as absorbing all of my imagination. I have a bad writer's block which I was finally able to narrowly snake around, only to finish with a rather rough and beaten chapter. I'm not quite sure how it is, on a scale of bad to good, but I'm hoping you'll decide and leave an ambundance of comments. Seriously, I have been so discouraged with the amount of comments lately.... Three days this week my mailbox was empty... It made me quite upset. I mean, come on, I know I've mentioned before how comments inspire me. And I don't lie. I exaggerate and fairytale, but I don't lie. SO keep that in mind!

ALSO! A DEDICATION! This dedication goes to someone really cool and awesome who has some really cool stories that you MUST check out! She also happens to be a super cool friend of mine!

Chapter 12 ~ Growing Tension

Damon’s P.O.V.

I stood close to KC as we waited by the fire pit for the other pack to arrive. Her warm skin brushed past mine, but my protective instincts were set in place as I glared at the back door, impatiently waiting for Cameron. Dan, Maggie, Ali, and Danica were also with us, prepared to train with the small pack and their presence settled my aggressively defensive urges. By urges, I mean the uncontrollable, primal desire to scare this pack off of my territory. But KC wanted them, and if KC wants them, I’m not going to win an argument when disagreeing with her.

The back door opened and Cameron and Brianna were the first ones out. I sensed the scouts behind me stiffen as Cameron’s pack followed, looking mysteriously defensive. They were expecting an ambush. Well, Cameron sure as hell was going to be disappointed.

“Alright, let’s get this over with,” Cameron sighed, cracking his neck and shifting his gaze from me to KC. He then scanned his eyes over my scouts. “This is all you got? Most of them are females.” He then added. KC scoffed and I heard the girls behind me snicker.

“They’re the best we have,” KC grunted, crossing her arms proudly. Cameron rolled his eyes in disbelief. Brianna, standing beside her brother, was smirking darkly at the ground, but her eyes were flickering up towards us every couple of seconds.

“We’re doomed,” Jonah muttered, another guy, Chris, I presumed, scoffing. I noticed out of the corner of my eye that KC’s smirk widened.

“Ali, would you be so kind and show Alpha Cameron here an example?” my mate hissed snidely and a moment later I felt Ali sprint past me as she launched herself towards Chris.

“What are you doing?” Brianna snapped angrily.

“Maggie,” KC said then, and the blonde ran past us and lunged for Jonah, the sounds of growls and snarls filling the air. The girl, Audrey, was looking around with frightened eyes, glancing from Chris to Jonah to her Alpha, who was giving KC a hardened glare.

“Dan?” KC raised an eyebrow while smirking at Cameron, his glare darkening. Dan walked up next to KC and she turned her head towards him but flickered her gaze at Brianna. The she-beta caught the motion and took a defensive stance, a ferocious growl spilling from her lips. Dan advanced anyway, but it was Brianna who took the first swing, missing Dan as he dodged, but gave Brianna a sharp shove. It was just Cameron, his eyes trying to tear into my mate, but KC was a strong, defiant she-wolf and she didn’t let the other Alpha’s dark scowl faze her. I looked behind me at Danica who was slightly smiling, her eyes looking from KC and I to Audrey.
