02: milk box

"Because we finished today's task early, everyone can now go home and have an early dismissal!" Heeseung exclaimed happily, making the class squeal while packing their things.

Jungwon took off his earphones, shoving them into his bag messily. "It's weird that we're going home earlier than usual but I'm not complaining." He then yawned and stretched his arms, watching the class leave their finished canvases alone.

Sunoo brightly smiled after wearing his backpack, offering a hand to help Jungwon stand up from his seat. "It's a chance for us to look for our partners in the school trip and also plan on what we're gonna do."

"You're right." Jungwon stood up with a slight smile, placing his left hand inside his pocket while the other hand carried his bag. "We should grab some food on the way home then."

"Sure!" Sunoo let go of Jungwon's hand, giving him a sinister smile. "Whoever's last to reach the front gate pays the food later!" He then immediately dashed away, leaving Jungwon.

Jungwon scoffed as he started to run behind Sunoo. "Hey! You're cheating, you started before I did!"

"That's the fun part!" Sunoo laughed, watching Jungwon catch up behind him. "I don't have any money anyway- Ow!" He accidentally bumped into someone, almost falling but at least Jungwon was behind to catch him.

"I'm so sorry." Sunghoon, the person Sunoo bumped into, apologized as he ruffled Sunoo's hair. "I should've watched where I was going."

Sunoo quickly went off Jungwon's grip, looking at Sunghoon straight in the eyes. "Oh, no! It's okay." He laughed, staring at the elder's sparkling eyes.

"Here, take this." Sunghoon reached inside his bag, handing Sunoo a milk box. "Take it as my apology."

Before Sunoo could take it from the love of his life, Jungwon took it first and held it firmly. "I'm sorry, but we don't just accept food and drinks from strangers. If you have nothing else to say, we're leaving."

"But Won, he isn't a stranger! What the hell are you talking about?" Sunoo nudged the younger, laughing awkwardly so that Sunghoon won't feel uncomfortable.

"Your friend is pretty protective, huh? Haha, it seems like the arts students left early today, lucky you. I'll have to get back in class." Sunghoon bowed politely, making Sunoo blush for how polite and amazing he is.

Taking the milk box from Jungwon, Sunoo waved Sunghoon goodbye as he smiled widely. "Of course, take care! I'll see you around!" He then watched Sunghoon walk across the corridor, greeting students along the way.

"Anything for Park Sunghoon, huh?" Ni-ki came, carrying a water bottle he bought during break. "Take this instead, he's filthy after practice, you know." He handed Sunoo the bottled water while he drank the milk box Sunghoon gave him.

"Nishimura Riki!" Sunoo screamed as he wrestled with the younger, trying to take back the milk box he received. It was the first thing he received from his crush after 3 years, that's why he finds it special. "Sunghoon isn't a filthy person, okay? You're the one! Now, give that back to me!"

Jungwon watched the two fight as he couldn't care less. "Give it, Nishimura. I'll be taking you down if you don't give it already."

Ni-ki gulped as he handed Sunoo the milk box, scared of Jungwon who studied Taekwondo for several years. "Oh my gosh, fine, here! I'll be leaving now!" He quickly ran away back to his dance studio, leaving the two clueless of why he even wanted to mess with them when he's leaving early.

"Now, why did he give it back so fast- Shit! He finished it!" Sunoo stood there in disbelief, dropping the empty milk box on the floor. "That jerk... ugh!"

Ni-ki peeked through his studio door, giving Sunoo the annoying tongue pose.

"Come here, you punk!" Sunoo was about to throw a shoe on him but luckily, Jungwon stopped him.

"Calm down, okay? I'll get food for you on the way home and I'm paying for it." Jungwon smiled as he caressed Sunoo's face. "Let's go?" He offered his hand, wanting Sunoo to hold it.

Sunoo smiled as he held Jungwon's hand, walking to the school's front gate happily. "Thank you, Won. You're the best friend I ever had!"

"Haha, yeah..." Jungwon avoided Sunoo's gaze after hearing the word friend.

"I still can't believe it! Park Sunghoon gave me something for the first time in 3 years! What do you think does it mean?" Sunoo exclaimed, jumping up and down. "Do you think he wants me to become his school trip partner?"

Jungwon's eyes grew large, about to choke on his own saliva just because of what Sunoo said. "Excuse me? You? He gives everyone milk boxes when he's in the mood for it so I think the fuck not... hopefully."

"What do you mean hopefully? Come on, it's obvious but I'll look into it more for the next few days!" Sunoo giggled, confusing Jungwon. "By the way, Won. Do you have a partner in mind already?"

Jungwon stopped walking, looking at Sunoo carefully after hearing the question. "Who do you think is it? Who do you think I want to be partners with?"

"Hmmm... Let me guess." Sunoo pouted as they continued walking under trees which leaves are falling quickly. "Ah, I know! Maybe you want to be with the psychologist... Ah! Park Jongseong, is it?"

"What? He's not even in the same homeroom class as us nor the same major. How could I be partners with him, then?" Jungwon crossed his arms, looking at the sky. "Plus, we're not close. I want to be with someone I'm close with. If only that person paid more attention to me, right?"

Sunoo nodded, being as dense as he could ever be. It's obvious Jungwon wants to be paired with Sunoo because they're friends but because he never looked at him, it was hard. "Right. He should start paying attention at you if you guys are close. How rude can that person ever be, huh?"

Jungwon laughed as they stopped at a nearby street food vendor. "I'm sure you'll do anything to be partners with Sunghoon."

"Of course, ah! He's the man I only want to be paired with. Hopefully, he'll say yes if I ask him soon." Sunoo sighed romantically, thinking about all the things they could do in the school trip if Sunghoon and he were paired. "If he doesn't want to be partners with me, I'll be partners with you instead!"

Jungwon took the menu closer to Sunoo so they could order. "It feels good to have a friend like me, right? Always the second choice, haha."

"Of course, I don't know where to go if you aren't the one next to me." Sunoo replied, looking at the street food menu. "I'd be partners with anyone. Anyone except for Nishimura Riki."
