17: an unexpected twist

"Oh, Sunoo and Riki! What are you guys doing here?" Jake laughed awkwardly as soon as he saw Ni-ki and Sunoo outside his classroom. "I'm on my way home, would you like to come with me?"

Sunoo walked closer towards Jake, blocking his way by placing his leg on the wall. "I'm just curious, not being mean, okay? But how did Park Sunghoon manage to convince you in joining his plan?"

Ni-ki nodded as he handed Sunoo his bag. "Jake, you said you didn't like Park Sunghoon more than a friend. It confuses me."

"The event's tomorrow. Tell us how he convinced you or we'll call your parents. Apparently, they don't want you doing other things aside from focusing on your studies, hmm?" Sunoo remarked, pulling out his phone.

"You can't call my parents! That's crossing the line!" Jake attempted to take the phone from Sunoo but Ni-ki took it first. He then raised it up in the air so Jake can't reach it. "What's up with both of you... Sunghoon told me you're not even dating for real."

Sunoo shook his head as he pulled Ni-ki in for a hug. "He has no right to say that when you guys are the ones doing it. See? Riki, you love me, right?" He muttered through gritted teeth, tightening his embrace on Ni-ki.

Ni-ki smiled awkwardly, hanging on for his life. "Haha! O-of course~! I love Sunoo very much, he reminds me of a nightmare..."

Jake raised an eyebrow after hearing what Ni-ki just said. "He reminds you of a nightmare...?"

"Ah, haha, yes!" Ni-ki fake-laughed as he avoided Sunoo's death glare. "He reminds me of a nightmare because you know, they feel so real! And if you let a nightmare go, they might hunt you so yeah. I don't want to let go of Sunoo."

Sunoo shook his head as he let go of Ni-ki. "That's enough talking, let's get straight to the point. If you won't speak, I'll be the one speaking to your parents. We know you didn't join his plan because you like him back. There has to be a catch!"

"Fine, fine! I'll tell you..." Jake sulked, looking at Ni-ki and Sunoo for the last time before telling them. "You know how I have the highest grades? He told me I should agree to his plan or he'll make me do a year's worth of his homework. Of course, I had no choice but to give in-"

"We understand." Sunoo smiled as he offered his hand for a handshake. "You're wealthy, do something else tomorrow. You don't have to come for Sunghoon's plans. We'll take care of the rest."

Jake looked at Ni-ki, receiving a nod as he shook hands with Sunoo. "T-that's it? You interrogated me for this?"

"We found out the reason anyway. We'll do something worse to him." Ni-ki remarked with a smile. "Thank you for cooperating, because of you, tomorrow's tea will be very tasty."

Sunoo and Ni-ki waved Jake goodbyes as they separated ways. Once they were alone, Ni-ki couldn't help but panic. He tried to look cool and bright earlier but he doesn't even know what Sunoo's planning. He just had to go with it.

Ni-ki sat on his knees, pulling his hair out. "Hey, what are you gonna do? There isn't enough time to plan for this! And we'll have to be there for the award show. It's not like we can cut ourselves in half and do more man work-"

"Stop stressing out. You're already stressed at home and it's making me worry." Sunoo sat down on Ni-ki's level, ruffling his hair. "You've always taken responsibility. So, for today and tomorrow, I want you to trust me."

"Trust you?" Ni-ki blinked his eyes in confusion as he got pulled into a warm hug. It wasn't like the hug earlier because this one...

This is what home should feel like.

"It's extra cold today, don't you think? I have a good feeling there's gonna be a snowfall." Sunoo smiled as he swayed side to side, grooving with the stage music. "If there's really a snowfall, let's play under it again."

"Are you kidding me? We shouldn't be talking about that... You didn't let me know your plan yesterday that I couldn't even sleep!" Ni-ki looked around as he tried to look for someone he knows in case that's the person Sunoo asked for man work.

Today is the day of the Winter Festival. They thought the Couple Event would happen at night but unfortunately, it had to be the first thing to begin the Festival. There were so many people anticipating this show which makes Sunoo really glad. It's about time Park Sunghoon drowns to hell for all the things he's done in this school.

Sunoo slapped Ni-ki at the back after he saw him worrying over nothing. "There you go again! Stop being stressed over the smallest things. I told you to trust me, right? This plan will go very smoothly. You'll be smiling and laughing later on because of how funny this is!"

Ni-ki let out a sigh as he shrugged it off, deciding to focus on the event itself only. "I'm going to blame you for all the embarrassment that's about to happen! Who knows what you've been planning behind me?"

"But if it makes you laugh and it becomes successful, you'll play with me under the snowfall, okay?" Sunoo giggled as soon as he saw the emcees on stage. "The show's about to start, I'm so excited!"

Oh, look. Jay and Hee's the emcees for this show! How come they didn't know? That would've made the job easier. But it's okay, Sunoo's plan will never fail no matter the situation.

"Ahem, ahem! Good day, Everyone! I'm Heeseung and This is Jay. We'll be your emcees for this lovey-dovey couple event! I totally signed up for this, haha!" Heeseung laughed awkwardly after being sarcastic.

"We will be meeting some of the school's most recent couples in this event. We'll also evaluate them based on the secret footages we've taken throughout the week!" Jay smiled as he tried to look for Jungwon through the crowd. "I wished I was a part of this show too but, the person I like doesn't seem to be interested in me, haha!"

Heeseung held onto his script, excited to showcase these couples. Although he didn't want to become the emcee for this show, he is proud because most of these couples were curated from his tea account. "Let's meet these couples now! We'll call your names one by one and make sure to stand up, okay?"

"Yes! The first couple is actually at the backstage already. They want to get more attention by entering this way." Jay rolled his eyes as he made way for the couple to come up. "Let's give it up for Park Sunghoon and Sim Jaeyoon!"

The stage was designed with two entrances from the left and right. So either of them won't know the style they're going for today.

Sunghoon walked up to the stage first, waving his hands to the crowd. Of course, lots of people squealed for him. This squealing could go on forever. "Good day, everyone! Make sure to vote for me and Jake, okay? I'm so excited, I want to have a good time here!"

"Ha, Sim Jaeyoon's not here." Sunoo smirked as he laughed quietly. "Let's just see if you'll still have a good time."

"Who's going to enter from the other side, then?" Ni-ki asked as his eyes were glued to the left side of the stage.

Heeseung made his way for Jake, expecting him to come up. "Let's meet Sim Jaeyoon too! We're all looking forward for you!"

Just then, a little boy came up to the stage. He was around Jake's height but something about him wasn't Jake-ish. From the clothing style and everything, it was off.

"Hey, isn't that..." Ni-ki squinted his eyes to see him more closely. "Oh! Why is he there?"

Heeseung, Jay, and everyone else was shocked to see the mysterious person's appearance here. Because of how speechless they were, you could hear a pin drop.

"What is Yang Jungwon doing here?"
