{THIRD PERSON POV}

All of them made it to Auradon from what felt like a long, awkward car drive. Which it was.

"I'll get these back to the gym," Lonnie told Jay as the group walked in the courtyard.

"Thanks," Jay told the daughter of Mulan.

"See you later," Lonnie said before walking away.

"Ben, there you are," Jane said as she walked over to Ben, "The Cotillion is tonight. Come here," Jane showed him the surprise for Mal, "Look, this is the stained glass for Mal. Isn't it beautiful? She's gonna love it."

Ben turned to Mal, who was standing there, lost in thought, "Do you want to cancel?" Ben asked Mal, quietly but Jane heard him.

"Um," Jane said, awkwardly, "You know, I can come back-"

"No, no, no," Ben cut off Jane, "No, no. Now's fine," Ben said before turning to Mal, "Do whatever you need to do," Ben told Mal before walking off with Jane.

"Hey, do whatever you need to do," Melanie told Evelyn, "I'll see you at cotillion."

Evelyn nodded with a weak smile, "Okay." Melanie nodded before following Ben and Jane.

Evie walked over to Evelyn and Mal and grabbed both of their arms.

"We need to talk," Evie told her sister and Mal.

"Yeah," Evelyn and Mal said before they started to walk away but someone stopped them.

"No," Carlos said, causing the three to turn to look at him.

"No?" Evie asked, confused.

"You guys are always going off in a huddle, whispering your girl talk stuff or whatever," Carlos told them, "Jay and I are tired of it."

"I'm not," Jay told the girls.

"We're your family, too," Carlos told the girls, softly, "We've been through a lot. Together. We're not stopping that now, okay?" Carlos continued as the girls nodded, "Everyone sit," Carlos ordered as he sat down on the grass. They all looked at him, weirdly before sitting down on the grass. They looked at Carlos, waiting for him to start the girl talk "I don't know how to start girl talk," Carlos admitted before looking at Jay.

"What up?" Jay asked, also unsure how to start the conversation, causing Evie to laugh a little.

"Um, well," Mal started, "I'm a mess. I'm such a mess," Mal nervously chuckled as Evelyn and Evie rubbed her shoulder, "I mean, six months ago I was, you know, stealing candies from babies and now everybody wants me to this Lady of the Court and I have no idea how to keep up the act," Mal's voice cracked a little at the end.

"And, I guess, I can come upon that," Evelyn started with nervous chuckle, "I mean, six months ago I was trying to find myself a princess and now I have gotten the princess of my dreams but it came with the price of everyone expecting me to be this adviser that helps the lady of the court and at this point, I don't think I can handle that type of pressure," Evelyn's voice cracked a little at the end.

"Then don't," Carlos told the two like it was simply.

"See, this was dumb," Jay said as he started to stand up but Evie stopped him.

"Maybe it wasn't," Evie told Jay, causing him to sit back down. Evie grabbed her sister's hand, "We're always going to be the kids from the Isle. I tried to forget, I really tried but those are our roots and we all did what we had to do to survive. But it made us who we are and we are never going to be like anyone else here and that's okay. That's okay."

"And we can't fake it," Carlos said, softly.

"Yeah, I mean, especially without my spell book," Mal mentioned.

"Mal, if Ben doesn't love the real you, then he's not the one," Carlos advised Mal, "Same goes to you, Eve. If Melanie doesn't love the real you, then she's not the one."

"I like that," Evie said.

"Give them a chance," Carlos told Evelyn and Mal.

"I'm going to make some changes to your dresses," Evie told Evelyn and Mal, "And if you're up for it, only if you're up for it, they'll be waiting for you, both," Evie hugged Mal and Evelyn before she stood up with Carlos and Jay. Mal let out a breath before standing up, leaving Evelyn with her thoughts. Jay looked back at Evelyn for a second before going to sit in front of her.

"Come to the Cotillion tonight, alright?" Jay told Evelyn, softly, "If Melanie isn't smart enough to love you and you can't stand another day. I'll drive you back tomorrow myself, okay?" Jay smiled at Evelyn causing Evelyn to smile back.

"Ok," Evelyn said, quietly, trying to sallow down the lump in her throat, tears gazing in her eyes. Jay noticed her distressed and gestured for her to come towards him. Evelyn busted into tears when Jay eloped her into a hug. She sobbed and sobbed and sobbed in his arms as Jay tightened his arms around Evelyn.

"Th-thank you," Evelyn said, quietly as she wrapped her arms around Jay's neck, hiding her face in his neck.

Jay just wrapped his arms even more around her as he rubbed her back, "It's okay, it's okay."

Evelyn sighed, softly, her breath now calming down, hugging Jay. She felt safe in his arms, even though she knew she had to face her problems, she felt safe, knowing her best friend was there for her.
