Natasha's POV
Tuesday morning, I got up, got dressed and walked to school.
Luke had gotten sick and Will had driven Mason to the middle school to talk to his teacher.
I reached school as Nick pulled up. I stopped by the sidewalk and waited for him.
He cam up with his backpack slung over one shoulder. He pulled me into a quick hug before letting me go. Will had just pulled up. We all walked to homeroom and sat down.
School passed and the boys all went to football practice. The girls all had stuff going on so I walked home.
I did my homework, took Oscar on a walk and then Mom and Dad got home.
"Hey, Natasha?" My Mom asked knocking on my door and coming in my room.
"Yeah?" I said setting my book down.
"Could you run to the store and get milk. We're out and I need milk for dinner. I would ask your Dad but he has to do his charting." She asked me.
"Sure." I said getting up.
I slipped my boots on, grabbed my phone and wallet before heading out. I walked to Rosauers and got a gallon of milk. As I was walking home it started sleeting. Fun. I had forgotten my heavy winter coat.
When I got home I unlocked the front door to find the kitchen and living room empty. I frowned as flashbacks came to me. Glancing outside I saw Luke's and Will's cars in the driveway. Mom's and Dad's cars were in the garage. Slowly I set down the milk on the counter and slipped my boots off.
I grabbed a small cutting knife from the knife drawer and opened the back door poking my head out. No one was outside.
I closed the door and went upstairs. I checked each room twice and found no one.
"Oscar?!" I called throughout the house knowing he would bark if he heard me.
I heard a small bark come from downstairs. My heart was pounding in my ears as I skipped all the steps and landed downstairs. The lights were all off. I couldn't see anything.
"Oscar?" I called again. I heard a small bark and then the lights flicked on. My family, the girls, Nick and Brett were all down there. With Oscar and a banner that said "Happy 16th Birthday Natasha!"
"Surprise!" They all yelled.
I let out a relieved chuckle. "Wow. I forgot it was my birthday." I chuckled, slipping the knife into my sleeve.
"There's one more surprise before the party can start." Dad said leading us upstairs. I darted to the counter, put the milk in the fridge and put the knife back in it's place. Nick came up behind me as we got our boots on to go outside.
"You had a knife in your sleeve?" He whispered.
"I freaked out and thought it was a repeat of last time you tried surprising me." I murmured.
"Sorry." He said.
"It's fine." I replied getting up and following everyone outside.
Dad disappeared for a moment down the street and returned driving a car.
He got out and handed me the keys. I covered my mouth not knowing what to say.
"It's used, but the driving place said that because of your military background and already knowing how to drive. They will not make you take the whole test that they make everyone else take. Meaning next week-assuming you don't fail-you will have your drivers license." Dad told me.
I jumped up flinging my arms around my Dad's neck. "Thank you!!" I exclaimed hugging him.
"Your welcome." He chuckled.
I thanked Mom and then followed them inside to start the party. The party consisted of Truth or Dare, Never have I ever, Two truths and a line-I won that one- Apples to apples, what do you meme and Batman Flux.
We had cake and ice cream and tacos. Then everyone else left. We all went to bed because we had school tomorrow and cleaned up.
