"I am sure they will return soon-"
"..."
"Padme?"
The woman whose focus had stayed with her book looked up at her friend.
"Yes."
"Are you hearing anything I'm saying?"
"Yes," Padme spoke, then hesitated. "No,"
After a short pause, the woman looked back down and continued to read. Ryn signed, knowing that not a single word from that book was being read. Her friend was nervous, and she had every reason to be. Ryn, of course, was worried too, wishing that she could be up above the skies of Coruscant with her fellow Jedi friends, assisting with the battle and rescue of the Chancellor. Despite her best efforts of trying to convince the council to let her fight, she had been instructed to remain on the ground with the senator.
The council had sent their best Jedi to assist the Chancellor, so the next order that came was to send the girl who was not only close to the Jedi that went but close to Padme as well. The stubborn Senator would only listen to close friends, and that, Ryn was.
"Padme, you mustn't worry" Ryn began
"I'm not worrying" Padme hastily responded.
She slammed the cover over her book and threw it to the side as she stood up. The book thumped into a bookcase causing a vase resting upon it to shake.
"I'm not scared," She said as she avoided Ryn's gaze
"Padme I can sense your fear, you must believe me when I say they will be ok"
Padme froze and looked back up at Ryn "How can you be sure?"
"These are the best Jedi in the galaxy, there's a reason they were sent and not others"
Padme pursed her lips and nodded in agreement. "That's true, but why did they not send you as well?"
"Uhm" Ryn began.
Suddenly a beep from the other side of the room caught both of their attention. Padme let out a gasp as Ryn hastily stood up. Both of them looked at the door, Ryn hesitated to open it, until on the other side three knocks rang out. Whoever stood on the other side of the door knew the code. Ryn walked to the sensor and lightly tapped the buttons to make the doors open.
"Hello Senator Amidala," Quarsh Panaka stated as the doors opened
"General Panaka, a pleasure to see you" Ryn smiled at him
"General- is there any news?" Padme asked
"We just got word, General Kenobi and Skywalker have landed safely with The Chancellor"
Padme sighed in relief.
"Kel'Ryn, Senator, We have a transport prepped, for whenever you're ready?"
Padme nodded and pulled Ryn's hand, causing her to follow the senator as she led them to the transport.
The ride was pleasant, Ryn watched Padme as her eyes stayed locked onto the runway. Ryn leaned over and tapped her shoulder.
"I can assure you, Senator, the landing strip isn't going anywhere"
Padme chucked and leaned back into her seat as the transport settled on the ground. Ryn looked up as she felt a familiar sensation, a small transport ship similar to the one Padme and Ryn rode on passed them overhead and landed in an open spot a few yards away.
