The group followed Organa as he led them back to the hangar, he explained on the way that Obi-Wan had contacted him to let him know he was on the way with Padme. Organa led them into the hangar bay where the ship had landed, Ryn could see Obi-Wan in the cockpit. Their eyes met for a second before he rushed from his seat and disappeared, it took a minute before he emerged from below with Padme in his arms.
Ryn rushed over to him, behind her Organa yelled for a stretcher to be brought out. When she met with Obi-Wan, his face was covered in ash and his robes were damaged from contact with fire. She was only able to put out her hand to offer compassion to him, when Bail rushed over and joined them, placing his hand on Obi-Wan's shoulder.
'We'll take her to the medical center. Quickly'
Two medical droids rolled up with a stretcher and Obi-Wan set Padme down, feeling her head as the droids rushed her away. His hand lingered in the air as he watched the stretcher hurriedly disappear from his sight, with Organa and Yoda quickly rushing behind. It was only when they were completely away from their view that he turned to Ryn, it was only now that the tears that had been pooling in his eyes were set loose and began to fall down his cheek. He placed his hand over his eyes to mask the pain, but Ryn quickly grabbed him and held him tightly in her arms. He squeezed, both of them burying their heads in each other's shoulders.
'I'm so sorry, Obi-Wan' Ryn choked out as she could feel herself mustering up some tears. 'I'm so sorry' she said again as Obi-Wan squeezed tighter.
'He's gone' Obi-Wan finally spoke 'He's gone, I failed.... It's over
'No - this isn't your fault. None of us saw this coming'
Her words did not get through to him, and in some way, she knew this. After the much-needed silence had passed, the two agreed it was time to go and check in on Padme. Obi-Wan hesitated to let go, but after taking a few breaths he was ready. Both had gotten their tears out, and were ready to face the others.
They met with Organa and Yoda in the Medical Center, all of them stayed on the other side of the operation room, with a glass wall separating them from their friend. Ryn watched the droids inside scurry around the room, Padme lay in the middle of the room sprawled out on the table.
Ryn approached the glass and placed her hand against it, this being the closest she could get to touch her friend. She wanted nothing more than to be in there with her, to hold her hand and comfort her. Organa noticed her and moved to her side, placing his hand on her shoulder to bring her back to reality. Ryn crossed her arms but refused to take her eyes off Padme, afraid to look away as if something could happen at a moment's notice.
'What happened?' She asked
'She went to visit Anakin, he turned on her when he learned that Obi-Wan followed her'
Ryn turned to Obi-Wan to confirm, and he nodded his head. 'I had to fight him, he had turned on everyone. Even her.'
Ryn nodded, she didn't want to ask about the fight. She didn't want to know how it ended. As a medical droid floated up to them, she finally took her attention from Padme and placed it on the droid.
'Medically, she's perfectly Healthy' It began. 'For reasons, we can not explain, we are losing her'
'What?' Ryn asked as she stepped forward.
'She's dying?' Obi-Wan asked
"We don't know why, she has lost the will to live."
Ryn turned to Organa and Obi-Wan, the clear look of confusion matched theirs. " Is that even possible?"
'We will have to operate quickly if we are to save the babies'
The group's eyes widened as they all came to the realization that the droid had said 'babies'. The droid read the room and questioned them. 'Did you not know she was pregnant?'
