Authors note: I'm PROUD of this chapter!! Also, it's about 5,000 words give or take, so I took the liberty of splitting it haha-
The shots continued to ring out as the battle raged on for what felt like days. Though it had only been a few hours, the droid army seemed to go on forever. While she deflected blaster fire, Ryn looked around desperately. She could tell that their forces were quickly depleting, but the separatists were going faster. Still, though, this battle was taking a heavy toll.
Amidst the blaster fire, a familiar voice called out. Master Yoda was calling her name. Ryn ducked behind a fallen ship and held her hand to her earpiece.
"Yes?" She answered in a huff
"To the fort, I need you to return," Yoda said
"I'm sorry?"
"Need you, I do"
Ryn lowered her hand and looked at her men. She hesitated, not wanting to leave them in the heat of battle. The commander halted and ducked down to where Ryn was kneeling.
"Don't worry about us! We have it handled down here" He yelled
"All right!"
Ryn reluctantly nodded and turned to the fort. She dodged to the tree trunk where the steps stood. She dodged the bullets and jumped as they landed near her feet. She leaped to the stairs and climbed them.
"Kel'Ryn" Yoda greeted her as she stepped onto the platform.
"Yes?" She asked
"Received word, we have." He started "On Utapau Grievous is, General Kenobi confirmed this"
Ryn tilted her head. "And what am I to do?"
"Gotten word we have. Need your help, Kenobi does"
The communications table turned on and Kenobi's face and body shone through the blue light.
"Hello Ryn," He said
"Obi-Wan"
"I have located Grievous, and my troops are inbound. I have requested that you meet me on Utapau and help with the attack"
"Why me? Would Anakin be a better fit"
"He is on Coruscant handling business there, besides, you're closer"
Ryn turned to Master Yoda confused, she waited for him to add on to the conversation, expecting him to protest to the arrangement. Yoda stepped closer.
"Necessary, I believe this is."
Ryn stepped back in shock. "Really?"
"Yes," The two masters said in unison
"Ok," Ryn said
She hesitated as she left the fort. As she was instructed, she went to the ship and instructed the pilot to prepare the ship for takeoff.
"And master Yoda?" he asked
"Master Yoda will stay for a little while longer"
The Captain nodded and turned to command his men for takeoff. He barked out his orders and in no time the ship was rising into the air. Ryn stepped to the window and watched as the beautiful trees of Kashyyyk faded from view.
What once looked like trees and people quickly became engulfed by clouds as the ship rose past and entered the atmosphere. Ryn could no longer see her friends.
"Prepare to jump to hyperspace, destination is Utapau" The captain called out.
Ryn took one last look outside of the rear window, she bid a silent goodbye to the green planet. Kashyyyk faded as the familiar blue shine of hyperspace came into view. The ship shot into the stars.
