Ten

That morning Chase springs from the his bed. He pulls his clothes on as fast as he can grabs a hat and his keys, then he's out the door. His truck speeds down the dirt road to Jared's house. He jumps out of the truck and runs to the door.

Tessa hears the bell ring and she gets out of bed still in her pjs and hurry as fast as a very pregnant woman can. She opens the door to find Chase banging on the screen door.

"Yes?" She answers.

"Where's Ava? I know I messed up as always but I need to apologise before she leave." He talks with his hands in frustration.

"She left." Tessa says almost in a whisper.

"Thanks." He gets in his truck and speeds away.

He drives as fast as the truck will take him not know if he really wants to make this decision. He could easily turn around, but his subconscious reminds him not to be cold the way he once was. He hops out of the truck hearing sounds of planes take off and rushes to get a ticket.

Ava walks downstairs and hears a familiar voice but thinks is her mind playing tricks. Chase would never come all the way just to see her, they were basically over she thought. As she walks in the kitchen she sees Chase helping mother and talking with father. Her eyes blink rapidly making sure it's him.

"Hi. Can we talk?" He whispers and gives her a hug.

"Yeah. Let's go outside." She takes his hand and leads him away.

They sit on the steps outside of the large house. The dark sky is lit with city light. Ava missing the stars and fresh air. Chase clears his throat snapping Ava out of her thoughts.

"So I need to stop having fits." He half smiles at her famous one making her fall in love deeper.

Ava laughs a bit then replies. "Yeah that would be nice. This is the last chance. I love you, but you can't loose it like that."

"Ok. Let's get inside before your parents get worried. " Chase stands and kisses Ava before heading in the house.

The next morning Ava is dressed and fully ready before walking downstairs, a thing her parents always expected. She want sure where Chase slept last night after falling asleep on the couch. Coffee fills her nostrils when she steps off the last step.

"Good Morning!" She kisses both her parents cheeks, then smiles Chase who's making breakfast for them.

"How did you sleep?" Chase turns around from the stove and hugs Ava tightly picking her up a little. Her mom laughing a little.

"You're so tall!" Marie chuckles after setting the table.

"I get that a lot." Chase smile as they all sit down.

The day is long and Ava packs her duffle bag for tomorrow's flight back to Tessa. Who's close to having the baby. Really any day now.
