Nine

After Church Sunday morning. Jared Tessa Chase and Ava go to lunch at a small diner. They sit in a booth then Nate pulls a chair up. Jared says grace when their order gets here then they start chatting .

"How was your date?" Ava asks Nate.

"I'm still in awe. Now I'm a man so I can't kiss and tell but I can say we will be going out more."

The bell rings as someone walks in the restaurant. Everyone's heads turn and its Amy. Her ears must be burning.

"You know I think I'm gonna go over there." He nods towards her and takes his soda with him.

"Bye." They all say to him.

"So Ava are you excited to visit mom?" Jared asks and the air thickens up as Chase stares at her.

"What!?" Chase asks dropping his fork on the plate.

"I was going to tell you I'm leaving next week for one week then coming back. I have to take a test. I'm sorry." Ava doesn't make eye contact, she just looks down.

"When Ava? Huh, was I not that important to talk to?" He stands up and opens his wallet. "I guess I don't mean as much as I thought." He throws down some money.

She's glued to the chair as her eyes start to water. The attention is on Chase as he walks out. Tessa sits on the other side of the table and hugs her sister.

"I'm sorry for saying something, I didn't know." Jared says to Ava feeling bad.

"Its really not your fault, I should have to him when I bought the ticket." She wipes her face as her mascara runs a little.

"Bye I love you." Ava hugs Jared when he drops her at the airport. Tessa wasn't feeling up to coming so Jared drove her.

She puts headphones on when she settles on the plane at straight flight home. She did miss her mom and dad, maybe it was better to get a break. They do say summer romances start for a million reasons but end in a blink of an eye. Her heart hurt but she couldn't find it in her to pick up the phone.

Her mother and father are waiting for her when she gets off the plane. She runs to then and hugs both of their necks.

"I missed you two." She smiles and John her father gets her duffle bag. She really didn't bring much because she has everything here.

The three of them walk out to their car, they decided to bring she Rang Rover out. It feels good to be home for Ava.

"I think I'm going to lay down, I have a bit of a headache." Ava tells her parents.

The evening rolls around faster than they expected. Marie makes dinner as John gets caught up in emails. The door bell rings and John stands to get it.

"Hello" he sticks his hand out. "I'm Chase."
