Dear Ava,
The past few months have been crazy. I fell for you harder than any other girl and what we had was so special. I'll never forget the moment you said I love you, I wasn't quite sure if you were falling as hard as I was. I can't believe you stuck around through my tempered moments and pity parties.
I'm not sure why the universe works like this, where you're given someone who you're incredibly amazed by but just like that they're gone. I think every day how things would have gone differently if only I'd stayed with you or if I'd left a little note, or even sent a text. I can't change anything. You might have been hurt but I live with the pain.
I wish I could have been good enough for your parents. I wish I was good enough for you. I bet you'll marry a doctor and forget this summer or you'll tell your teenage daughter to stay away from guys like me.
I know asking you to marry my was totally out of my league but I wouldn't take it back, it wasn't like a "word vomit."
Now you're home and unpacking because this was buried in your suitcase. I want you to keep this so you'll forever think of me.
