It's called "making love" only when the two people doing it are actually in love. Other words that can be used when said people aren't in love include canoodling, intercourse, having sex, doing the deed, fucking, and whatever else can be used to describe doing it.
Sex had been such a stigmatized topic in society that people would hardly, if ever, talk about it even though it is a completely natural part of life and the dating process. Sex is beautiful and fun and nothing to be afraid of. Even when my dad was alive, he taught me about the birds and the bees at a very young age and told me to use protection.
I thought protection just entailed using a condom and that's exactly what I used when I was fifteen and decided to have sex with my first boyfriend. And what's worse, is we were both afraid the entire time, I was worried I could get pregnant and he was worried about getting me pregnant.
So, I went and told my reliable father about my experience. He said if I was going to continue to be sexually active, that it would be a better idea to either be on birth control pills or have an IUD put inside me. And noticing my complete and utter inconsistencies and lack of patience, he took me to a gynecologist and waited outside while the woman helped me. It was a painful product to be inserted inside me, but as long as it did it's job and allowed me to enjoy sex without the fear of pregnancies, it certainly was a win in my book.
My doctor had instructed me to replace it after 3 to 12 years, so I decided that today would be a good day to go check up on my feminine parts and see if all was well in the neighborhood.
I walked into the school health offices after my 12pm class and waited for the nurse to call me in to see the gynecologist. I had had a pretty hectic morning, with confrontations with my roommate and Abel's wrath toward his fraternity brothers, it was a nice relaxing moment to myself where I could just sit on a chair while a doctor inspected the inside of my vagina.
"June Clyde." The nurse called as I stood up and approached her. She smiled at me, "how are you doing today Miss Clyde?"
"Good." I smiled as she led me to a room and told me to wear nothing but the piece of cloth that she handed me. I placed my arms inside and tied the hospital gown around myself.
A few moments later, a soft knock on my door startled me and the doctor stepped in.
"Hello, I'm doctor Kirk, what seems to be the issue today."
"I wanted to check on my IUD and uh, see if I needed to replace it yet?"
"Alright June, first can I get your name and date of birth?"
"June Clyde, November 27, 1999." I said as she nodded.
"Very good, alright June, do you mind sitting back and lifting your legs up, don't worry this'll only take minute." She said as I leaned back in the seat and did as I was told. I felt a piece of metal moving around inside me as I stared at the ceiling.
"Very good. Okay, June, you can sit up." She said as I did as I was told.
"So your iud is intact, I would say you have a while before needing to replace it, but if you do want to replace it, I can have that done for you today. Additionally, I did want to mention that since it seems you've been sexually active recently I would suggest using some lubricant." She said as my eyes widened. How did she possibly know?
"What do you mean?"
"It appears that your inner vaginal wall is bleeding a bit and you had reported in the form you filled out that your period ended last week. It seems like there's been a bit too much friction and I would recommend lubricant. We have some by the front desk! Free to students." She smiled as I suddenly felt embarrassed.
