10 years later...
"This has been fun, Kohga!" I stepped up the last step of the stairs, the former Yiga leader right behind me. "Now, tell me what this is for!" I held up the small key, and he laughed and grabbed it before leading me to a room - my mother's old study. "Mother's study?"
"Not just her study - her secret room." He pulled out a box and used the key to unlock it, and inside were tons of small painted photos of my mother and... someone else? "Your mother had a special connection with an... old friend of mine, you could say."
"Really?" I looked at a few of the photos, seeing how happy she was with this man. Happier than some of her photos with father... I assumed it because of the need for a formality in the photos of them together. "What kind of special connection? And when?"
"Oh, they were rather close... friends. Rather close friends when you were really young." He walked over to the wall and pulled down a tarp, revealing a large photo of my mother and father together after I was born. "It's a long story. One that can wait."
"Why is this all hidden? Was she not supposed to be with him?" I asked, holding up a purple cloak that had my mother's name on it. "He looks so cool."
"Yeah... cool would be a... word to describe it..." He sighed and grabbed the stuff from me before shoving it back in the box. "Don't tell your father or Urbosa we had this talk. Go do your research or something for now." He had me leave the room, and I do so happily.
Happily because he had no idea I had gotten my hands on a map of Hyrule with a few marks.
Once I got to my room, I closed the door and spread the large paper out across my bed, excited to look over it.
There were marks in the Gerudo Desert, the springs, around Central Hyrule and a lot all over the castle itself as well as the main four villages.
"Link!" I called, and in rushed the young knight. "Do you know how to get to Gerudo Desert?"
"I mean... you could say I know of a few routes... why...?" I smiled and closed up the map before holding it tight to my chest.

"So you're sure this is the place?" Link slashed his sword at the monsters in the way, and I nodded and ran inside with the sheikah slate and the map in my arms. "I don't know about this, Zelda."
"It's gonna be fun! I just wanna see who this is!" We ran around the large place, and Link wasn't very amused with me stopping at every single new thing to take a picture. "Do we know where anything could be?"
"Maybe down here?" I followed him down the stairs, and there were many rooms down the hallway, ending with a podium that had a broken guardian. "What's that?" I started walking towards it, and he chased me. "Zelda, wait!"
"This is so cool!" I took a few pictures, and he stopped by my side, gripping the hilt of his sword. "What do you think it's for? It doesn't look like a regular guardian."
"That's right, it looks dangerous." He held his sword up, and as I reached out to touch it, he grabbed my wrist. "Zelda! Don't touch it!"
"But why not? We'll never find out what it does if we don't interact. Please Link? I know what I'm doing." He shook his head and began leading me down the hall.
"No. Your father will kill me if anything happens to you." I pouted as he led me down, and I pulled my hand away. "Zelda."
"Fine, but I don't need you to hold my hand! I'm not a child!" He rolled his eyes, and we continued down the hall until we reached the stairs, and as he started going up, I waited a second before turning around and running back towards the robot.
"ZELDA!" He leaped down to chase me, and I held my hand out, and as soon as I was close enough, I placed it on the robot. Everything suddenly turned blue, and Link sighed and held his sword out. I held my hands out, looking around while confused.
The blue went away after a few seconds, and we were in the same spot. We both turned to each other, and we were about to speak but we heard laughter. A woman's voice.
Link and I went to the room we heard the laughing coming from, and he peeked into the tarp, my head below his, and inside sat a golden haired woman dressed in a light blue gown with that same deep purple cloak over it.
The man from the photo was sitting in front of her, and I quickly realized. This was my mother and that man. Link and I were silent, all the while only being able to stare at the pair of them.
Mounted on the wall sat the sheikah symbol - upsidedown. My father and Kohga had warned me of the danger of that flipped symbol. So... why was mother here with a man who had it on his wall?
Did he capture her? Were they friends? All I could do was wonder as they sat there on the floor talking. And then he... kissed her...? Wait a minute.
