#114 Mick - Stolen Dog

MADDIE POV.: Since Mick and myself are traveling quite a lot, I left my shitzu with my parents in Geneva, just like Micks' Angie stays with Corinna and Michael. I miss Lola dearly, but happily we fly back home in 2 days, so I'll see her again...
I was getting ready for the day in the bathroom when my phone rang:
(Mm - Maddies' mum, M- Maddie)
Mm: Hey Sunshine! How are you?
M: Hi Mum! I'm good, getting ready for the day... You?
Mm: Could be better...- I could tell something was off with her...
M: Mum? Everything alright?- I asked her curious -Your tone is different...?
Mm: No, not really...
M: What happened?!- I felt my heart racing rapidly.
Mm: You remember the back gate in the yard?
M: Yeah, what's with it? There are rocks..
Mm: Not anymore...- she said, her voice full of guilt.
M: What?! How's Lola!?- I sat on the edge of the bathtub.
Mm: I'm SO sorry Honey...
M: What are you saying...?!- my voice cracked.
Mm: Lola is missing baby girl.. Dad and Ava are looking for her...
M: NO! It can't be truth! Have you checked under my old bed?! She loves to hide there..!?
Mm: I'm sorry baby. She's not in the house, or anywhere near it...
M: How it happened? Somebody opened it? Are the rocks moved?- I felt lightheaded.
Mm: Rocks are kicked all over the back yard... And the gate was opened.. I'm more than sure that it was locked when we let her out...
M: What dad is saying about it?
Mm: We're almost sure that it's no way that she did if herself.. Lola got stolen...
M: What!? No way! Why?!
Mm: We don't know baby..- she sighed.
M: Are they looking for her?
Mm: Of course! We all are- she assured me.
M: Keep me updated, if anything changes...
Mm: We'll let you know- my mum said and I hung up without another word, holding my phone tightly against my chest, with tears in my eyes.
After few seconds, I decided to call Mick, who was on his morning run.
(C- Maddie, S- Mick)
S: Hey Love! What's up?- I could easly hear, that he's a little out off breath, because of the run.
C: Mickey...- my voice cracked.
S: What's wrong Maddie?! Tell me!- his cheerfull tone disapeared in seconds.
C: Can you just come back home?!
S: Of course! I'm on my way, but tell me, what's wrong?!
C: Thanks. See you there- I said, and hung up without further explanation.

....
After some minutes, I heard the front door slam shut.
-Maddie!? Where are you Liebe?!- Mick shouted, but I couldn't muster anything. I heard his loud footsteps around our apartment, and finally, Mick reached the bathroom door, and our gazes met. -What happened? Why are you crying?- he asked worriedly, and crouched down in front of me.
-Lola...- I cracked, locking my tearfull gaze with concerned one.
-What's up with her? She's sick?
-No- I shoke my head -Someone stole her.. The backyard gate was opened, and the rocks are all over the place..- I told him everything.
-What?! When?
-This morning...- I said, and then broke down, no longer being able to hold back the tears. Mick for instance pulled me for a hug, ignoring the fact that he's all smelly and sweaty from his traning. I clunged into him, crying hard, and he held me close, patiently rubbing my back -Ava and dad are searching for her...
-And we'll find her! Everything will be alright!
-How?!- I cracked weakly.
-Firstly, we need to eat something and pack our bags. We're flying home ealier- he replied, drying my cheeks with his thumbs, and locking our gazes.
-But your work..?
-Lola is more important!- he staited and pulled us both to our feet.
-Ok- I agreed and we left the bathroom, to eat.
After that we packed our stuff we might need in next few days. I couldn't really focus, still thinking about Lola, so Mick did most of work, including talks with Gene and Gunther, why he won't be in the factory in next days. Luckly, they didn't comment...

5 HOURS LATER
GENEVA
We finally landed in Geneva, and after we colected our luggage, we drove to my parents house. Mick constantly tried to cheer me up, at least a bit, hurting himself inside. After all, I got Lola from him...
We had a small talk with my mum and then joined dad and Ava in searching for our dog.
And during so, we met Corinna and Gina.
-Maddie? Mick?! Hey!- she greeted us and we gave them hugs.
-What are you doing here?! You said, you'll be coming in 2 days?!- Corinna exclaimed.
-Someone stole Lola...- Mick said in sad tone and hugged me close.
-O my God! What happened?!
-We don't know really... She's just missing...- I replied calmly, not able to cry anymore.
-Can we help somehow?- Corinna asked.
-We're just wandering around with her picture and asking random people if they saw her.. But we're thinking that she got stolen, because it's Maddies' dog.. And that connects her to me...- Mick explained. Then we talked some more, and resummed our walks, still in hopes that somebody will tell us SOMETHING...!

MICK POV.: When Maddie told me that Lola got stolen, I felt like someone punched me in the stomach with a truck. Our Lola...
But I needed to stay strong for her, to keep us both sane.. I decided that we'd fly back to Geneva ealier, to help Ava and her parents in searching. Seeing Maddie so heartbroken broke my heart..
Then my mum and Gina volunteered to help, also sad. I wished that Lola just hid somewhere and we'll find her...
We've searched for her whole day, all to nothing. But then, when we wanted to give up and start tomorrow, we met that woman...
-Sorry, have you seen this dog?- I asked her, and Maddie showed her a picture -Her name is Lola, and she got stolen this morning...- I explained with sadness and hope.
-Actually, I think I have...!- she said, watching the photo closely.
-You did? Where?!- Maddie's face lit up.
-My neighbour took similar one in this morning. I think it looks exactly the same, with collar and all...- she answered, shocked.
-It's my dog! Can you tell us where we can find him?- Maddie got desperate.
-I can give you an address? And surely I'm not telling you, that they always keep window in living room opened- the woman said warmly and added -I hope you'll find your dog...
-Thank you! We own you big!- I thanked her when we noted the exact address.
-It's fine. Just go and get your dog- she answered, bid us goodbye and left.
-Mickey..!- Maddie looked at me with happy glint in her eyes.
-Let's go and tell everything to our parents. Then we'll come up with what to do next...- I suggested, smiling at her.
-Yeah, let's do that- she agreed and then we got back to my house, where our family is.

-We know where is Lola!- Maddie informed them, when we entered the living room.
-You do?!
-Lola indeed was stolen. We met their neighbour and know the address- I explained everything to them.
-Really!? That's good! I mean, bad..- Gina said, relaxing the tension in the room and making all of us laugh.
-Let's go and see, if they're home- Maddies' mum said and everyone agreed, got up, and left the house. I really hope that we'll find Lola there...

AT THE ADDRESS
I can't believe that we're this lucky!? The house is empty and everyone left. That's perfect moment to sneak in and search for Lola!
-We'll watch out for you. Get in!- Gina decided, and we did so, through that opened window the woman told us about. The house is really quiet, indicating from the start that it's empty. Without thinking we started to roam around, to hopefully, find our Lola.
-Lola! Lola!? Where are you baby girl?!- we shouted from time to time, checking the living room, kitchen, bathroom and few other rooms.
-She's not here Mick!- Maddie said, with tears in her eyes.
-Don't say that! We still have one more room to check!- I tried to assure her.
-But...
-No "buts" Princess! Let's check that room and then be sad about it- I interupted her calmly.
-You're right..- she agreed and we entered the last room -Lola!? Are you here?!- she shouted, and we started to search -They have little girl...! A girl who loves her dolls, and stuffed animals, and want to be a Princess...- she said with glossy eyes.
-Mad. Focus on Lola. She must be in here somewhere...- I told her, trying to calm her down -Lola!?
-Lola!? Where are you baby girl?!- Maddie stood in the middle of the hallway, with tears in her eyes.
-She's not here Mickey...- she looked at me heartbroken.
-Let's call out for her one last time- I wasn't going to give up that easly -LOLA!?- and to my relief, we heard more than familiar barking. Before we moved, Lola ran to us, barking happily.
-My baby!- Maddie kneeled down and took shaken dog in her arms, hugging her close -My poor baby! You're safe! You're safe!- she cooed, with smile on her face, as she kissed the top of her head.
-Let's get out of here, before someone notices..- I scrached Lolas' ear and then pulled Maddie with me, back down, to the front door. She wanted to get back the way we got in, but I stopped her:
-Don't be riddicullous and go through front door- I told her and opened that door for us. Maddie flashed me gentle smile.
-And?
-We got her- I told Gina with smile myself.
-Yay!- she squealed happily -Hi cutie! Welcome back home!- she said sweetly and rubbed Lolas' head.
-Let's get out of here before someone notices- I told them, and we joined our family, waiting for us on the sidewalk. They're as happy as we're that we have Lola back with us, safe in Maddies' arms.

After that we got back home, chatting happily. Finally, the horror was over, and we can fully relax...
-I'm never leaving you again!- Maddie exclaimed, cuddled to my chest, with Lola on her lap, as we're sittng with the rest of the fam on the couch at my parents.
