"JOSIAH DANIEL ORTLIEB!"

I should probably tell you what that was about...

"YOU BETTER NOT BE BREAKING THE FOURTH WALL AGAIN!"

Ok. Screw it.

I run down to find my dad beating my mom with a bat, and I go OFF on him. "You know what? I've just about fucking HAD it with you getting drunk and beating my mom, who DIDN'T EVEN DO ANYTHING TO YOU; by the way, all she's done is be faithful and love you, and yet you're treating her like this? I'm done." My dad then replies, "No, you're not." I narrow my eyes and fire back, "Try me."

Iman (my best friend at the time, whom I was secretly in love with) came out of my room and said, "What's going on out there?"

"C'mon, Iman. We're leaving."

"Ok."

I meet her halfway and tell her what's going on, then I tell her to cover her eyes. She covers her eyes and I guide her out of the house. I then get out my phone and call Officer McKnee.

Officer McKnee: *picks up* "This is Officer McKnee speaking."

Me: "I have a situation. My dad's beating my mom and my siblings-"

Officer McKnee: "Josiah?! Be right there. No sirens, right?"

Me: "Yep."

Officer McKnee: "Got it." *click*

I hang up my phone, and then Iman looks at me with tears in her eyes as I say, "I'm going back in to get my siblings and my mom out. If he gets me, just know-"

I then hear a scream, and my heart skips a beat.

He found Ellie.

"I gotta go."

I head in without another word. I then sneak my way into Ellie's room. Once I'm in, I see that my dad has Ellie cornered. I get ready to choke my dad, and when he raises his fist, I pounce. Of course, my feet were hanging off the ground, but I was able to knock him unconscious successfully. That's all I needed.

I then pick Ellie up and say, "I'm here, Ellie. You're safe now." I see my mom getting up, obviously in a lot of pain, but once she sees my dad unconscious in Ellie's room, she says, "Thank you." I go get my siblings from their respective rooms and I gather them outside at the mailbox. While I'm heading out, Iman says, "I thought you were- oh, never mind." I respond with, "What, you just now noticed my family?"

"GoNnA cRY?"

"OoF, that hurt."

Right as I say that, a police car pulls up. It's Officer McKnee. He gets out of his car and runs up toward the house, but I stop him and say, "He's unconscious right now, but be careful, I think he might wake up soon, if he hasn't already done so," to which he responds, "Will do. I'll be careful." He slowly walks up the driveway, up the ramp, and to the door, then he opens it slowly so as to not wake my dad up. He sneaks into Ellie's room, swiftly arrests my dad, and walks out of the room. When my dad wakes up, he starts to struggle against the cuffs, however, he stops when McKnee and I walk in. My dad says, "I'm sorry for-"

I interrupt him, saying, "Sorry, my ass! I gave you another chance to change, and yet you took advantage of me, my siblings, AND my mom, whom YOU SWORE you wouldn't hurt, under ANY CIRCUMSTANCE," To which he responds, "I was drunk, and I'm sorry I broke my oath, but you have to-"

I interrupt him again, saying, "Don't you get it? I TRUSTED YOU," (I'm yelling and crying by this point), "and yet you had the AUDACITY to hurt us YET AGAIN?! I'm moving the family far away from you, and there is nothing you can do to stop it. From now on, there will be ABSOLUTELY NO MORE CONTACT between you and Ellie, you and Alyssa, you and Austin, you and me, and ESPECIALLY YOU and OUR MOM. YOU MEAN NOTHING TO US ANYMORE. From now on, things WILL be done on my, my siblings, and our mom's terms, and THEY WILL NEVER BE DONE ON YOUR TERMS. Sound familiar? It should." I turn to Officer McKnee, nod to him, and say, "You know what to do, Officer," then I walk away, and as I walk away, I hear McKnee reading my dad his Miranda rights (USA peeps only: see your local police station for details on your 'Miranda rights'). I smile, knowing that my family will be safe.
