The two boys stayed on the rock a little longer, Luca laying against Al while he had his arm around him. Luca felt so relieved to finally talk to him again, but he still had so many questions, since the fight. And Alberto knew he did, but he wasn't sure if he'd be ready to answer them yet. But for now, he just wanted to relax. And it seemed Luca wanted the same. Al could tell how comfortable he was curled up close to him.

Luca let out a long sigh, frowning. "What're we gonna do? We can't stay here, you can't swim with a broken rib...But they could still be out there...waiting for us. What if they plan on doing worse to us?"

Alberto held his cheek and rubbed his back. "It's gonna be ok...we'll figure something out. We're gonna make sure nothing happens to us."

"We need to think of something soon..." said Luca. "We might just have to go back up there...your injuries will only get worse the longer we stay here. But...it wouldn't really be good for you to walk, either..."

"I can manage better walking," Alberto told him. "I just...can't run, not too much, at least. Where do you wanna go?"

"I wanna try to go back to Massimo's," Luca stared at the ground. "He can still help us, and so can the people of Portorosso. Everyone there accepts us, except for Ercole and his three friends. That's a lot more people than his group, so maybe they'll help us. And Massimo already has a big group with him to help search for Ercole, so I think we could make it back safely."

Alberto thought about it, and sighed. "Ok...we'll try that. But we're not going up there without anything to protect ourselves with. It's like you said, they could still be up there waiting."

Luca nodded, "Yeah. Let's try to stay hidden, too. We can't be out in the open...obviously. Wait...my parents! Nonna! They don't even know we're gone! W-we can't just...oh no...no..."

Luca started shaking and breathing heavily, Al quickly hugged him close and tried to calm him down.

"Hey, breath! You're going to see them again, I'll make sure of it! But right now, we need to stay here and get some rest. I promise. Luca..."

Al took both of his hands, "Listen, we ARE gonna see them. But now isn't the right time! Please...don't sneak off again. I don't want anything to happen to you. We have to promise to stay together...until everything is back to normal again. Look, I trust that those people can help us...but we still have to be careful. And I trust you especially, you're very smart...unlike me."

Luca took a deep breath and sighed. "You are smart. You're a bunch of different kinds of smart, and so am I. But...we're also kind of dumb, too. I mean...I snuck back to the surface just to fight Ercole, and you went back to keep fighting with them, instead of staying with me, whenever we went back to the house. I guess...sometimes we do things without thinking..."

"Yeah..." Al agreed, then he frowned. "Wait...you started that fight, earlier?"

"Uh, well..." Luca looked nervous. "No! I-I mean...I didn't wanna fight him, I just tried talking to him to figure out why he was doing all of this! But he wouldn't listen, it was him that started it...I just tried to defend myself. But...I was really angry, because of what he did to you. I just felt terrible, and wanted to hurt him for it..."

Alberto sighed, "I get it...but maybe don't do that again...ever. I mean, either way, he was probably still gonna try to hunt us down, but...I'm just glad we made it out alive."

"Well, you did kinda save me," Luca said, side-smiling. "If it weren't for you, I'm pretty sure I would've died. So...thanks, for that."

"Anything for you," Alberto grinned. But he quickly shut his mouth after realizing what he just said.
