They had just reached day three. Two more days of playing until the weekend. Komori decided that this was finally going to be the day. The day he tells Suna how he feels. He wanted to do it at the end of camp, but Sakusa's little pep talk from last night got to him. He wanted to make the best of the time they had together, and he wanted to do that as a couple. Even if it went wrong, he could only hope that he and Suna were still friends after it. He wanted to believe that their years of friendship wouldn't come crashing down that fast, but he was still worried. When they woke up, he talked to his cousin and decided that he would do it after dinner. They would use the same plan they devised earlier. Sakusa invites Atsumu up to their room, and Komori goes down to Suna's. After working it all out, they went to hop on the bus for this day's practice.
They played for a little longer than usual today. Since the camp was nearing its end, the coaches wanted them to use this time to the fullest. They decided to play for 30 minutes extra. That half-hour was the hardest they've ever had, and that's saying a lot seeing as they've been to nationals multiple times before. They pushed all of the players to their limits, and they were all sweating buckets. If it was filtered properly, someone could drink it if they didn't know of its origins. After mopping up the floors, and their foreheads, they were on their way back to the hotel. They all quickly made their way to the bathrooms, marinating in your sweat was never fun. After lots and lots of begging, Komori managed to get into the bathroom before Sakusa. Only thing is, it's going to take them a while to get to dinner since he wanted to clean the shower before getting in.
Komori was sitting on his bed, waiting for his cousin to wash up when his phone rang. It seems to have become a pattern, Suna calls him after shower time, they talk on the phone for a bit, the rest of the group shows up at their door, and they go down to eat dinner. Sure, it's only happened once before, but it's happened nonetheless. Komori constantly changes Suna's contact name. He's developed over 10 different nicknames for him, some a little dumber than the last. 'Rinny' was the one he currently had it set as since he knew it bothered Suna the most. He almost forgot to answer the call while he was thinking off all the times he got a sideways look from the name.
"Hey, Rinny." He smirked a bit as he heard Suna groan from the other line.
"You're never going to let that one go are you?" He sighed out before clearing his throat. "Should we come to your guys' room this time? We're already on the elevator."
He looked over at the bathroom door to see that Sakusa still hadn't emerged. He was probably rinsing and scrubbing repeatedly. "I mean you can..?" He questioned his own words. "Kiyoomi still isn't out of the shower so you'd have to wait." He heard the line go quiet as small conversations went on that he couldn't hear.
"I don't think Osamu can handle waiting."
"That does make sense." Sakusa emerged from the bathroom looking like that was the best shower he's taken in his life. "We'll be there soon."
"Alright." The line cut as Komori hung up.
"So what's the plan?" Ginjima asked as they reached the ground floor. When they walked about they could see random team members here and there. Tendou and Semi from Shiratorizawa, Hirugami from Kamomedai, so on and so forth.
"They're going to meet us down here. Sakusa just got out of the shower." He put his phone away as they walked into the dining hall.
"How does someone manage to take a shower for that long?" Osamu asked, genuinely confused.
"He had to disinfect the shower since Komori went first."
"Yeah. That's something Omi would do." Atsumu smiled gently.
"You're so thirsty," Akagi muttered, but Atsumu still managed to hear him.
"Do you see the way you look at Ginjima or was I just hallucinating?" Atsumu bit back, making the aforementioned couple flush.
"Y'all, don't even start." Osamu stopped them before something started. As soon as the group sat down, they saw Sakusa and Komori walk through the doors. They waited for the two of them to sit down before finally starting to eat.
"You guys waited for us?" Komori said to Suna when they sat down.
"There was no reason not to."
They all just ate quietly. No one was chatty today, not even Atsumu, which came as a surprise. After that super long practice, none of them knew what to say. Nor did they want to say anything in the first place. After they finished eating, Sakusa grabbed Atsumu and asked him a question. When he nodded his head in agreement, Sakusa made eye contact with his cousin, gesturing to their mutual friend before walking away with his boyfriend.
"Hey, Rin? Wanna hang out in your room? I don't want to be around for whatever that is." He pointed behind him to the two walking out of the room. Suna faked a gag before turning back to Komori with a smile.
"That's gross. Let's go." They said bye to the last three at the table and made their way to Suna's room. They had small conversations about weird stuff. Sakusa and Atsumu, the training camp, the spider Komori once saw in the corner of a hallway that looked like it was pregnant. They fell into a comfortable silence when they entered the room and sat down next to each other on his bed.
"Wanna know what I found yesterday?"
"What?"
"A chicken fillet with mac and cheese on top!" Komori sounded far too excited for what he just said. Suna turned to him with nothing but pure disgust written all over his face.
"We just ate Motoya. Why would you say that?"
Komori busted out into laughter and Suna quickly followed. They laughed together until their sides hurt and they collapsed on the bed next to each other, stray giggles leaving their mouths. They maneuvered until they were lying side by side vertically. Suna turned on his phone flashlight and they just started to make shadow puppets like they always did when they were kids. That's when Komori finally remembered what he was even in there for in the first place. He looked at Suna who was trying to figure out some kind of shape he could make with his hands.
"Hey, Rin?" Komori fiddled with his fingers and he took Suna's phone and flipped it over so it was flashlight down. When Suna turned to look at him, he realized how close they were in proximity almost immediately.
"You alright?"
"I'm fine. Um," Komori sat up and Suna followed suit, concern crossing his face but Komori couldn't see it in the dark. "I have something to tell you..."
"What is it?"
