The next morning, you woke up to Merrill shaking you awake.

"Hey, y/n. y/n wake up."

You turn over with your hair all sprawled out and you look confused as you sit up, rubbing your eyes.

"What time is it?"

"It's six. You have to get home so your mom can bring you to school." She whispered, picking up your bag and putting your things into it.

"Fuck that. I'm not going." You mumbled, pulling the sheets back over your head. Merrill scoffs and pulls the covers back down.

"y/n listen to me. I know how hard school is for you but I need to show your mom I'm a good influence by making you go to school okay?"

"No I just want to sleep a little longer. Please?" You asked sleepily, pulling Merrill's arm for her to lay back down.

"No. Please do this y/n do it for...for us?" She shook her head as she tried to smile.

You open your eyes and sit up, pulling her into a kiss. She deepened it by placing both hands on your face and you pull away, with her hands remaining where they are and your eyes dart from her lips back to her eyes. You put your hands over hers and move them down.

"I'll do it. You're right. My mom'll be happy."

Merrill slightly laughs with relief and wraps her arms around you in a hug.

"Thank you." She whispered, kissing your forehead. You half smile and nod, getting up and grabbing your bag. You both go down the stairs to the front door.

"Bye Merrill." You say, placing a hand on her cheek. She just looked so sad it broke your heart but she was right. If your mom saw she cared about you going to school and things like that, then maybe she'd change her mind.

Merrill leans in and kisses you then pulls away with an even more sorrowful expression.

"Oh wait!" Merrill says.

She reaches over to a bench next to the door inside and grabs you a navy green striped sweater.

"Here. It's a little cold."

"Thank you."

"Goodbye y/n. I love you. I'll pick you up from school okay?"

"Okay. I love you too."

And with that, you walk out the door, grabbing your bike. You wave to her with a sad smile and she returns as you ride off down the road. The sun was still down and it was kind of dark. You wanted nothing more than to be back in Merrill's bed with her, in her warm embrace, melting all your worries away.

When you arrived at your house, you placed your bike down and walked to the front door. Your mom was at the kitchen table and she looked really stressed until you walked in.

"Mom?"

Her head shot up and she ran to you, hugging you.

"Oh my gosh. Honey I'm so sorry. I never wanted you to feel I didn't accept you-"

"Mom. It's okay. I have to get ready for school."

"Oh. Wow. Okay."

She was surprised to see that you were so willing to go today.

"Yeah Merrill really wanted me to go."

"She did?"

"Yeah. She said she just wants what's best for me and that I really need to start going back to school."
