hey look I remembered this thing existed

Amity was at a loss for words ever since I sat in the bin with the water balloons. I didn't blame her. No one ever knew what to do when I did this, which was a shame because I did it every time I played this.

Emira, unlike her sister, did not even hesitate. She immediately tipped the bin over, with me in it, so that my hair got soaked too with the water being dumped on it.

"That's not fair!" I complained while laying in the grass as Emira pillaged more water balloons from the ones that hadn't been squished under me.

"Oh, well, boo hoo, I needed water balloons and you were sitting in them. Perfectly fair. Very likely more fair than however you got Amity out here."

Amity stuck her tongue out at Emira, and Emira made sure to hit both of us with water balloons before turning back to Edric.

I sighed, not really having the energy to stand back up. For about three seconds, until Amity realized that she could hit me now that I wasn't in the bin, and until I realized I was a much easier target if I wasn't moving.

We both scrambled to grab more balloons, and I ran back towards the trees Amity had been reading at. Trees were good for taking cover, right? Maybe she would hit trees instead of me. That felt like a solid plan that might have been used before for some type of war. It felt more thought out than most of my plans, actually.

It also worked better than most of my plans. I realized this when Amity had hit three different trees instead of me. Of course, it worked both ways and I was only hitting trees, but still.

I stopped when I realized that I only had one balloon left. And that Amity also only had one left.

"Sudden death round?" I offered, though I'd only ever seen that on one video game, not that I played that many. "First person to get hit loses."

I immediately got hit, to no one's surprise, but Amity was laughing. Goodness, her laugh was absolutely wonderful. I would get hit by millions of water balloons if she would just keep laughing.

"Look at this," I told her, pointing at the tree that she was standing in front of. "This tree right here, it's got a ton of branches and isn't as steep as most. It's the perfect tree to climb up."

She raised an eyebrow as if I was crazy, which I was. "We're wet, Luz. All the leaves will stick to us."

"Yeah, I know." I grinned. "What's your point?"

She rolled her eyes, like she was always doing whenever I talked, and I was prepared for her to call me an idiot and refuse the offer.

But she turned around and started climbing the tree. She got up about six feet off the ground before scooting out on a branch and staying there. "Well?" she asked me, giving me a strange look. "Aren't you going to come up here with me?"

Heyyyyyyyy.
517 words. So. Not terrible. But not great either. Uh, multiple people went through this in the past week and voted on every chapter so then I felt bad and started writing but it wasn't really going great cuz I was forcing myself to write. But then while I was writing stuff I actually got an idea for where the plot is going to go for this. And then I wrote it better and I have another two chapters planned (the same scene but from both of their perspectives but it still counts shh). Anyway, that means the other two will actually be coming in the next month at the latest (!!!!). I don't have school for a week either so I might actually get some stuff done.
