Chapter 42 - The Present.
Tori's POV
It's been two weeks since that day where I held Jade and officially became a couple. Actually, I just told Jade we already were a couple and Jade liked that very much.
While officially a couple, we've sort of taken a slight step back in physical affection. We hold hands, snuggle and kiss on occasion but nothing else. It was something we discussed and came to a mutual agreement on.
While Jade wanted to move forward physically, she said in our discussion that she was a bit frustrated as she simply didn't know how to proceed. She still had issues, fears and of course nightmares.
But it's only been two weeks so not much else has happened. We've been very busy anyway. Jade had picked up some extra shifts at the hospital and much to my delight went on her first audition in over a year. It was for a bit part in a TV show, but she felt good trying to get back into the swing of things.
Today is Jade's birthday and several days ago, she told me she hated birthdays and instructed me not to get her any presents. I said I would not get her any presents, nor make any fuss. a promise I had no intention of keeping. There is no way in hell, that my girl is going without her birthday being celebrated.
It was a Friday and I had taken off from the playpen, but hadn't told Jade. In fact, I took off at noon from the bank so I could get home early. I had found out from Cat, that oddly one of Jade's favorite dinners was pot roast. It seems rather ordinary, but Jade is always full of surprises
After I got off from the bank, I went to the store and got all the fixings for a wonderful pot roast dinner, complete with a nice bottle of wine. I had timed it to have dinner ready when Jade got home.
Jade arrives home on Friday about 5:30 so at 5:25 I had dinner and everything else ready to go. I couldn't help be giddy with excitement.
Just as the clock hit 5:31, I could hear Jade's keys fumbling in the lock. Ready to go, I walked into the living room and smiled.
A moment later, Jade came in the door, looking a bit more fatigued than normal. Not noticing me at first, she dropped her purse and keys on the table just inside the door. As soon as she did, she stopped and sniffed the air.
Turning around she eyed me suspiciously. "That smells like pot roast." Said Jade in an almost accusing fashion.
I couldn't help but grin. "Pot roast, a very delicious salad and a rather nice bottle of Merlot." I then stepped forward and kissed Jade gently on the lips. "Happy birthday baby."
Jade tilted her head looking just a bit perturbed. "SO, when you said you wouldn't make a fuss or get me a present, you lied didn't you?"
I kissed Jade again, only this time just a bit longer. "Yes. My girlfriend is going to get nice birthday dinner and a present." I then toughened my stance slightly. "Have a problem with that?"
"No. I figured out you were lying almost instantly. Dinner sounds great. Now give me my present!"
"Cat is right, you are bossy."
"Vega!, Accusing me of being bossy, will not get you kissed."
I giggled and grabbed out her present from behind the couch, a long tube, in wrapping paper. "Here you go. Happy birthday."
Jade took the tube and with a amused smile, unwrapped the tube and pulled out what was inside. Once she saw it, she immediately gasped.
"Oh my God, this is an original 1978 Poster for the movie Halloween." Jade then immediately gave me a hug. "Thank you! This is so nice."
