Zane's POV

As I ate, I withdrew from the conversation. I was thinking. Where was the falcon? I had sent it out nearly three days ago, and I still had no word from it. Whenever I switched to Falcon Vision, I heard and saw...nothing. Just static. Was it malfunctioning? I had looked at its systems the night before, and it had seemed fine. A bug? From who? My teammates knew how much the falcon meant to me. I looked at them for a second. Cole's eyes were still watering, and Nya was animatedly talking to the others about a new training exercise she thought we should begin using. She looked ready to get on the floor and demonstrate.

Not one of them, then.

Maybe the Overlord? Not him, he was in who knows where. Maybe the Digiverse... I shuddered. I didn't want to remember that place. Ever.

I needed to calm down. I quietly cleared my plate and walked out to the ships deck, just as Nya took it upon herself to demonstrate her new exercise.

I walked to the railing and decided to give the Falcon Vision one more try that night. Like the previous eight times, I saw only static. This time, though, the noises were different. It sounded like... groaning? I tore myself away from my falcon, hoping to stop the noise and dizzying images. The static stopped immediately, but the groaning continued. After a few seconds, it went away as well. I began to walk dejectedly back to the dining hall, but then the groaning started up again. I began to suspect that the odd sounds had nothing to do with the falcon.

I looked around. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. I walked around the side of the hall. There was a person-sized lump on the ground. I walked closer, not wanting to alarm it if it was alive. It's vital stats began to display themselves in my retina. It's heart was beating quickly, it's breathing was shallow, and it was bleeding lightly out of several cuts. Finally, I was close enough to see what it was. I was shocked. How had it even gotten onboard?

It was a girl.
