Hearts

Cole's POV

We were all shocked. Excluding the day Zane had showed us he was a nindroid, you don't usually see people nonchalantly OPEN THEIR CHESTS. First, she pulled out a loose wire or something, and I thought Zane was having an episode. Sensei was looking at her kind of funny, which worried me, and then Zane opened his eyes and I finally started breathing. He had died once. We weren't losing him again.

And then, like I said, she just smiled and opened her stinking chest! She had a metal heart for some reason, and Zane looked at her like she had just announced that she was his sister.

Apparently she had.

Zane's POV

I didn't ever think about if my father, Dr Julien, had gotten the inspiration for me from another person. It was too bizarre to think that there might be another of me running around somewhere. But the proof was here, in the form of a sixteen year old girl named Kyra. Everything clicked into place. The doctors had said my own heart was too weak, and another one from a family member was needed. Kyra had sacrificed her own heart, and Dr Julien had apparently made her a new one. I had still died, so he must have turned me into a droid, with my human memories and looks. But I had seen my power source, so the heart must have been taken out when I was under construction. Unless...

Kyra closed her own panel. As it slid smoothly into place, I wondered if her metal heart had anything to do with her being the falcon. She reached over to where a humans heart would be located on me and tapped it three times in a triangle shape. The triangle pulsated light, and everyone saw what I knew would be there.

Kyra's heart.

"But...but you were dead! I saw your body!" I stammered out as I sat down. Nya tapped me on the shoulder. "Could we continue this conversation outside, please? Breakfast contained beans, and I don't think anyone wants to be inside a closed area when they go off." We all agreed, and headed to the deck. Kyra sat down, cross legged. "I wasn't dead. You were asleep and forgetting when the doctor used the defibrillator on me and fixed my leg from being hit by the car. He had told me that as siblings, and metal sharers, we'd have a unique connection. I didn't know that meant I'd turn into a falcon until a few months later." She looked around. "Seriously? You fight talking snakes and living statues, and a cyborg girl talking to her robot brother is the weirdest thing you've ever seen?"

Apparently, it was, seeing as everyone was giving us very surprised looks. All except Sensei Wu, but I think he's only experienced surprise twice the entire time I've known him. Then he opened his mouth and surprised us all by saying, "Kyra, how would you like to be a ninja?"
