"I don't understand."

Elsa stopped chewing after thirty minutes of nonstop chewing when she heard Jack suddenly speak. It made her look up over her shoulder and find her husband propping his chin on his palm, with elbow resting on the arm rest of the couch, staring at her in amazement.

On a very fine sunday afternoon, they were both sitting on the couch with Elsa sitting cross-legged, leaning comfortably against her husband. She was eating her lunch while enjoying a TV series. While Jack, he was too busy watching his wife eat, which to him was far more interesting than a TV series.

"What? What don't you understand?" Elsa asked, her chopsticks stopped in midair.

"Why do you suddenly love this kind of spicy, aromatic food? You've never eaten food like this before. You always eat havermout, baby." Said Jack, gesturing with his chin at his wife's takeaway, which she held tightly in front of her chest.

Elsa just rolled her eyes when she found out that what her husband asked was only about the food.

"First of all, I don't just eat havermout you know? I eat other foods too. You're just exaggerating the matter." Elsa waved her chopsticks as if she was lecturing her husband.

"And secondly, blame your baby for making my food imagination and my taste buds run wild, Jack. She always asks the strangest." She added, this time stroking her four-month pregnant belly.

Jack smiled fondly at that, he always enjoyed the moment when he stroked his wife's swollen belly, and just seeing Elsa do that made him want to do that too.

"So now you're calling our baby as a she too?" He asked, his eyes sparkling because before, when he called their baby as a she, Elsa always corrected him and said that they still didn't know if it was a boy or a girl.

Elsa just shrugged and started eating again. "I don't know. I just feel that maybe this baby is a girl. And we're going to know about this baby's gender soon. Oh, and one more thing. Don't act like you don't love this kind of spicy, aromatic food too, Jack. You always ask for more."

Jack was stunned by his wife's words but a few seconds later, he couldn't take it anymore until he burst out laughing.

"Baby, listen. There's a reason why I always ask for more. And that, is because you always ask for my half. And being thrifty you are, you've never ordered more than two servings."

Jack was still laughing when he finished speaking. But apparently, Elsa disagreed and didn't laugh. Instead, her shoulders slumped and she seemed to lose her appetite for an instant. She looked back over her shoulder and handed him the remaining spicy, aromatic food.

"Do you want your half back?" Elsa offered with a pity look on her face. Her lower lip was sticking out dangerously and Jack was sure that if he got the wrong answer, he'd spend the whole night comforting his moody wife.

From the very beginning of her pregnancy, even a trivial matter could turn his wife's mood upside down. And with him saying about how thrifty she was, it wasn't a trivial matter.

Jack stopped laughing. He knew that he had just been wrong about expressing his thoughts and he should know better than that.

"No, no, no. That's not what I meant, honey. You can eat whatever you want and as much as you want. I can cook instant noodles later." Said Jack, gently pushing the food in front of his face. And it seemed like the right move as his wife's lower lip was no longer sticking out, replaced by a faint smile.

"Are you sure about that?"

"Yes, baby. You can have it. Don't worry about me. Eat now."

Elsa then smiled and as if nothing had happened, she was busy chewing again after previously taking the time to steal a kiss on her husband's cheek.
