The sun was shining brightly on a beautiful morning ready to witness the birth of two phenomenal handsome chefs who would adorn the covers of cooking magazines.
Nah, just kidding.
The sun was shining brightly, and the morning at the end of the week were so beautiful that many people around the neighborhood took advantage for jogging, gardening, taking their pets for a walk or maybe just standing on the porch and greeting the morning sun with big smiles on their faces.
But not with Kristoff. He had a little trouble opening the front door of Jack's house with his two hands holding two grocery bags filled with ingredients that he would use to cook with Jack. His burly body looked even more macho with the apron attached to the front of his body and his head covered in something that looked more like a shower cap than a chef's hat.
"Okay, here we go." Said Kristoff after he made his way into Jack's house. He closed the door with one foot and walked straight into the house to the kitchen. Jack's house was still quiet, maybe Elsa is still in their room and Jack is still with her. But he had to announce his presence because he was so excited to start this, he was so ready to cook.
"Jack!" He called out to Jack, not too loudly but enough to be heard. He put the grocery bag on top of the kitchen island and realized that Jack had already prepared some cooking utensils. There were frying pan, souce pan and pot, some dry spices, knife and cutting board, even a scale.
"My God, Kristoff! Are you really serious about this. What's that in your head?" Jack entered the kitchen after going down the stairs, he was surprised to see Kristoff who looked so determined to cook this morning. He laughed derisively, his finger pointed at Kristoff's head.
Kristoff just rolled his eyes and started pulling ingredients out of the grocery bag. "This, Jack, this is to keep our hair from getting into our dishes. So it's safe to eat. Now, the ingredients are all ready, the utensils also seem ready, now you, are you ready?"
"I was born ready!" Jack beamed at Kristoff and he clenched his fists at his sides as if he was going to a race.
"Good. Now, wear this." Kristoff threw an apron and similar head cover at Jack, who caught it with a little flustered.
After observing it, Jack finally understood what Kristoff meant and he put on the apron immediately while Kristoff continued to unload the ingredients from the bag and throw the empty bag into the trash.
"How's Elsa? Is she feeling any better?"
"Slightly better. At least she's warm now. Last night was still hot. Like really, really hot. She still needs lots of rest." Jack put on the head cover and made it tilt a little. "Look at me, Kristoff. I'm an artist. The handsome one."
Again, Kristoff rolled his eyes and took the cooking book from the table. "Yeah, whatever. Okay, so. What are we going to cook today?" He opened a book and looked for dishes they could practice. Jack walked over to him and joined in reading the book.
"Ah! How about this one? This is french dish. This is Anna's favorite too. The name of the dish is soupe à l'oignon croutons." Kristoff said it with confident. However, Jack's reaction was not as confident as he was. Jack furrowed his brows and scrunched up his nose, his narrowed eyes stared at him while his hands were on his waist.
"Just mentioning its name is difficult, let alone cooking it. Is there nothing easier?"
"Oh, don't worry, Jack. In our language that means onion soup. You know that? Onion soup!" Kristoff said explaining, stifled a laugh. He didn't want to make a lot of noise in Jack's house for fear of disturbing Elsa.
