"We need to get over to them in one piece, that's our first task." Rory tells Hali. "I have some supplies in my pack, hopefully something in there is useful for delivering a baby."

Hali nods, surveying Rory and noticing one very big obstacle in their way. Her pack is nowhere to be seen. "And where's your pack, Skaiplana?" She asks. They both reluctantly turn their heads back to where they were previously hiding, willing for the bag to not be there but, it is. It's sat on the ground practically taunting them.

Rory grits her teeth, furious that she could have been so stupid as to leave her pack before they fled. "We can't go round. We can't use the woods like Lincoln."

"We'll try to cover you, distract the sniper somehow." Octavia says, trying to come up with something. "We can... throw rocks and make loud noises, keep their attention on us and away from you. It probably won't work long, but it'll get you closer to them."

Rory reluctantly nods in agreement before turning to Octavia and holding her tightly by the shoulders. "Don't do anything that could get you injured, do you understand?" Her voice cracks slightly as she speaks. One of her hands reaches around the back of Octavia's head and they both rest their foreheads against the other's. "I can't lose you, Octavia."

Octavia nods, trying to mask her concerns and uncertainty knowing Rory needs her to step up. "Everything's going to be ok."

Saska cries out in pain, succumbing to a particularly strong contraction, attracting all their attention. And attracting the sniper's. A barrage of bullets are sent their way, lodging themselves in the thick concrete barrier, covering them all in dust and rubble.

"We go now. Everyone move back to where we were right now. Use the dust." Rory commands, pushing herself as high up as she dares.

The others follow suit and then they all break out into a run, simultaneously diving back behind the debris they were hiding behind earlier. They surprise the sniper, the person on the ridge not expecting them to move back to where they'd been because, why would they? It was an idiot's move. They had a free route to safety, into the cover of the woods where he couldn't see them. If he'd been where they were then he would've run as fast as possible towards salvation. All the other Mount Weather guards would've done the same. But the sniper on the ridge had underestimated the grounders in TonDC and their willingness to save as many of their people as possible. The so-called savages aren't so savage after all.

Once they're down, Hali and Rory glance at each other, checking that neither of them have gained a new injury. When they're both sure the other is ok, Rory turns her attention to her pack. She grabs it and pulls it close. "I need you guys to start timing the contractions. How long they last, and how long passes between them." She tells Atlas and Arcas. "I'm going to throw you my journal and pen, start writing it down so we have a record." The two men nod at her. She quickly opens her pack, ferreting around inside it to find what she needs. "Saska, this is your second pregnancy, right? Did everything go ok with Orion? No problems I should know about?" She asks, lifting her head, looking over at them for a response. All three of them shake their heads. "Do either of you remember or know how long it took to get to full dilation last time?"
