97 years ago a nuclear apocalypse happened and destroyed all life on Earth leaving just the radiation behind. Or so we thought. We believed we were the only people left, the remnants of 12 nations who had operational space stations (there was a 13th too but we still don't talk about it), but we were wrong. The last I saw of the Ark was watching it fall from the heavens, breaking into pieces as it descended through the atmosphere.
Myself and 99 other delinquents (and Bellamy Blake) were sent on a suicide mission to Earth by my father, the King, and his council. They didn't care whether we lived or died, all they cared about was if the Earth was survivable. Lucky for us, it was. Now, Earth, that was the dream. Earth was meant to be our fresh start, our opportunity to do better than those that came before us, but it turned out to be more of a nightmare than a dream. The one goal of the Ark was always to return mankind to Earth, but in actuality, mankind had never truly left.
A war broke out, Grounders vs Delinquents, both sides suffering huge casualties. It was an awful experience, certainly not the dream we had all hoped Earth would be, but what scared me the most is that it didn't feel unnatural. Anyways, we created a ring of fire by making the dropship take off and it worked: barbecued grounders.
I left 49 of my people inside the ship, oh and Anya, before sneaking out to find survivors. I didn't get very far. I was quickly picked up by a group of grounders and taken to their capital, Polis, to meet Heda, Lexa. I thought she would kill me on the spot but, she didn't. She wanted an alliance and I agreed. Lexa was right, I am a lot more like them than I am Skaikru.
Polis has been nothing but welcoming to me. The last month has been one of the best of my life. I've learnt their language, studied their history and politics, experienced their culture, and I've learnt how to fight like them. I was somewhat of a killing machine before, but now my technique is a lot more refined thanks to Roan (he can never find out I said that!).
A group were sent to our camp to inform the delinquents of the new alliance, just a few hours after I had left, but no one was there. They'd vanished into thin air. Lexa has been sending scouts out daily, searching the woods for any sign of surviving delinquents. They come up empty every single time, but I have to stay hoping that the outcome will change. I have to believe they're out there.
The hundred may not have been found, but the scouts have confirmed that the survivors of the Ark have set up a camp, and, my father has been positively identified as one of them. He's still alive. I know that I will have to return, I vowed to kill my father the second he landed. But, until my people are spotted inside that camp, I'm not going anywhere anytime soon.
The King will fall. Until then, he can keep living in blissful ignorance, unaware I'm watching and waiting for the right time to strike.
