Chapter 18

Somin's POV

As soon as I got home, I sat on my couch and reminisced everything. My cheeks warmed up as my thoughts wandered to what happened between Jongkook oppa and I.

He asked for time. I took a deep breath and exhaled. Of course, I'll give it to him. I do have to admit it has only been a few weeks since we've known each other. It was too fast so we'll just have to take it slow.

Oh god, 'we'. I cupped my face to relax my face from smiling too hard. Cliché but this is probably what having a crush on someone feels like. It's been a few years since I had a boyfriend and unlike my famous dreading stories of my ex-boyfriends, I do not crave romance as much anymore.

Going back to Jongkook oppa, I don't even know what overcame me when I boldly held his hand. Was that too much? I hoped I didn't embarrass myself. My phone ringed.

I looked at the caller and I automatically smiled. It was Jongkook oppa. I quickly picked it up. "Hello?" He called out. "I'm here," I answered, leaning back onto my couch.

"You got home safe?" He asked. My heart fluttered, butterflies erupting in my stomach. Such simple words could make me swoon. "Yeah. You?" I questioned.

"Yeah, I'm walking home now," He answered. A silence fell between us. Unlike other times when it's usually awkward, it's a comfortable silence now. "Somin," He uttered.

"Yes?" I replied, biting my lower lip in nervousness. It's been so long I've felt this nervous. It wasn't bad nervous, it was good nervous. "Are you okay with this?" My heart clenched at his question.

"What do you mean?" I exhaled, feeling pressured. "I couldn't say this to you just now but I want you to know that I am serious and I.." He paused. "I do like you, Somin. But if we look at this from a realistic view, it'll be hard to maintain a relationship."

"Realistic view? We are just two individuals who wants a relationship," I confessed. "I get that we're both working in the public's eye but it's not that you haven't dated in your life as a celebrity?" I continued.

"I have. But Somin, you're young. Gosh, you're a decade younger than me. You're just starting to explore your life as an entertainer and if everything goes out, I'll feel like I've ruined it for you," His voice was calm and stern.

"Do you even know what you're saying? We haven't even start whatever this is and you're contemplating everything! How is that fair to me?" I bickered.

"Somin..." He trailed off. "You said you wanted time, oppa. I'll give it to you. In the meantime, keep in mind that I wouldn't have done whatever I did if I wasn't so sure about you," I stated.

"Have a nice night, oppa," I ended the call after a few seconds of silence. Yes, maybe I was abit tad too dramatic. Heck, we haven't even started a relationship and this was the outcome.

I could feel it becoming into a love-hate relationship.

Jongkook's POV

I grunted when Somin ended the call. I shouldn't have brought up the public. I was just worried for her. Of course, I'd be careful with her if we went out in public.

Not all relationships are exposed to the public but the media is getting crazy for exposing celebrity couples. But then again, I was being dramatic since we haven't even officiate our relationship.

Thanks to me, since I needed time. Time for what, you ask? To prepare myself. It's not that I've counted but it's been roughly 5 years since I had a partner. It's also the last 5 years where I've been the most obsessed with working out so that explains it.

What can I say? If anyone told me that I'll be falling for the actress, Jeon Somin, I'd probably laugh at their face. Is this what people mean when they quote 'Expect the unexpected'? Because it sure damn works.

Jongkook's POV

I patiently waited for her to reply when she read my message but after 2 minutes, I sighed. She really was testing my patience, wasn't she?

Oh, look. You actually can reply.

Hahaha. Very funny.

Read this once and for all, alright?

I don't want to mess up anything between us. I don't want to scare you at all but I would like to be serious with you, Somin.

I don't want to hurt you, okay?

Somin's POV

I could feel my cheeks warmed at his text. Wow. He really must care about me, huh? It was sweet of him. And rather, cute.

I thought for awhile about what to reply since I do want to take it seriously too.

I know you don't want to hurt me, oppa. Of course, I want to be serious with you but we got to have fun too!

You think I don't want to go out dates without anyone finding out? I do. So, trust me on this and let's just go with the flow. Okay?

Alright, Somin. I agree with you. I just don't want you to feel uncomfortable.

As long as you're by my side, I'll be fine, right?

Now, are you home yet?

I could feel my lips tug upwards from her previous message until I saw her recent message and laughed at the sudden question. I looked around my surroundings and realised I had reached my block.

Yes, I've reached home.

Good to know. Now, go and shower! I bet you stink.

What did you just say?

Hahaha~ Goodbye, oppa!

Jongkook's POV

I chuckled once more, shaking my head. I texted Somin a goodbye and turned off my phone before heading in to my house.

Narrator's POV

Somin and Jongkook had their schedules filled and couldn't meet each other due to their busy worklife. The only day they could meet was the filming of the next episode of Running Man, which was on Monday. Monday was in 3 more days.

They couldn't call themselves a couple yet, after all. Somin hadn't told anyone nor did Jongkook. They were living in their own world, only until all was confirmed. They had been texting and calling. Somin had thought that they were like high school lovers, who just started dating and found it funny.

Jongkook, on the other hand, was just caught up in his feelings. Secretly liking it whenever Somin calls him at any time, although he nags her about it. He found himself smiling even more and had thought about risking it all for her at that point.

As those 3 days passed by, it was finally time to face each other among their beloved Running Man members.
